X-REAS 'seaping'

I have an 08 Sport v6 2wd with not quite 27k miles; today I had the tires rotated and it was noted on the work order that both rear and 1 front shock(s) were 'seaping'. Nothing was said, it was just written in the notes. My question: is this normal and should I take it to the dealer for inspection?

It is not normal. You don't live in snow and have low miles. Unless it got damage during offroading or the stealer messed it up, it should be fine.
your car should still be under warranty, have the stealer worry about it.
have them elaborate where and how much it is seaping.

Thanks. I am taking it in this afternoon to get looked at. Service advisor said it WAS normal for them to leak a little; but he would throw it up on the rack to make sure it was not excessive. I'll report back.

I would bet you the price of 4 shocks that if that thing was 3 days out of warranty the "normal seepage" would generate a recommendation for replacement (at a hefty cost).

I say BS to 'normal'.

No doubt. They are not going to get off that easy; I've got extended warranty too since this is my first Toyo. Leaving in a few to go get it looked at; report back later.

A lot of them leak. Not normal at all from a warranty perspective, though common.

I had the same issue on my 08 limited both rear shocks were leaking first dealer said normal went to another one and they changed them. I did dump the system soon after I found a front one leaking all that in less than 20K went with 4 KYB's much easier and cheaper.

Ok, here's what they said; it's normal. Who didn't see that coming? Todd (an SA) at Toyota of Plano for anyone keeping score, said they are self lubricating and a certain amount of oily residue is not uncommon and quite normal. So, I have a record on file now of my concern, and I am good to go for a 1500 mile round trip next week. I'll keep an eye on them from now on during routine oil changes and tire rotations and look to get them replaced before any warranties expire. Feel free to post back any info that may help my case for replacement. Thank to my fellow members here.

I might try another dealer as you approach 3/36k for the sole purpose of getting another dealer to acknowledge/enter it into the system. If they want to fix it, great.

^^Agreed^^, they know you are getting close to the end of factory warranty, don't let them off like that. Plus, it's not like the Warranty repair cost comes out of the dealer's pocket.
Also, Self lubing or not, mechanical or electronically controlled, it shouldn't leak, mine doesn't
