I don't think staying away from places because it's dangerous is being afraid, it's being smart. I live my life too!
I don't know you though. Maybe you want to go to some gangsta's street BBQ, but the only place I encounter people with guns is when I meet up with my hunting buddies before we go into the woods. Maybe it's just where I live vs where you live, but I've lived in big cities before too, and I go to Detroit frequently for work without a gun and I'm still here.
Carrying a gun everywhere seems more like fear to me. If you're not afraid why carry a gun?
Maybe you just like carrying the gun and that's cool, but seriously if it were me I'd be moving up here cause it sounds downright scary down there!
Actually, a lot of shootings actually happen in 'gun-free zones' because criminals (people who choose to break the law and/or harm others) go to such places knowing they can shoot and kill people with no resistance from law-abiding citizens obeying such laws. So did you ever go to school? Because school shootings happen all the time, and it doesn't seem like a dangerous place. Neither does a dollar store, gas station or Walmart, but shootings happen in places like these all the time. How do you know a safe place from a dangerous place?? Life is a constant rolling of the dice, you never know when you may encounter a situation where your life or the life of a loved one could be at risk or require the use of deadly force to stop an attacker or random deadly encounter.
Just because you haven't encountered people with guns outside of your hunting buddies, doesn't mean it can't happen. I choose to life live with mottos such as 'be prepared,' and not being prepared can lead you to not being here if something ever does happen.
You can have an opinion on where to live, but shootings happen in small 'safe' cities or towns all the time. If not prepared with a true means of self defense if something were to ever happen, how helpless and shitty would you feel if you saw your loved ones gunned down in front of you knowing there's nothing you can do to help because you chose not to carry.
I choose to have the option to save a life if necessary, even if it's to help some random stranger being attacked... human life is a fragile thing and even a single blow to the head can kill somebody.
I would be more than devastated if I ever lost somebody who needed my help and I couldn't help because I was disarmed. Maybe you haven't experienced a close death of a friend or family member, but it sucks, especially when you feel like you could have done something to prevent it.
The world is only getting worse, and it's obvious the inventions known as firearms aren't going anywhere,
especially for criminals so why be left out when you could have the simple option of having a fighting chance if you ever do encounter a life-threatening situation.
Be prepared.
An armed society is a polite society.
Statistical facts/examples:
A.
Guns save more lives than they take; prevent more injuries than they inflict;
-Guns are used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense. Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year -- or about 6,850 times a day. This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.
-Of the 2.5 million times citizens use their guns to defend themselves every year, the overwhelming majority merely brandish their gun or fire a warning shot to scare off their attackers. Less than 8% of the time, a citizen will kill or wound his/her attacker.
-As many as 200,000 women use a gun every year to defend themselves against sexual abuse.
B.
Concealed carry laws help reduce crime
