Hey guys - first and foremost let me provide an apology for the delayed reply on the forum. You guys are important to us, and well...its been a long month!

That said, if you are experiencing a mis-fire when first starting the headlights when the engine isnt running, we:

A) Would recommend not using the automatic mode, since it will try to power the lights before the engine, and then when the engine turns on, the electrical system will suck power from the headlight circuit, leaving an in-adequate amount for the ballasts to do their thing

B) Definitely using the relay harness. That will provide a more reliable source of power for the ballasts directly from the battery, and simply use the on/off signal from the stock harness to tell it what to do.

Wanted to follow up on my original posts to state that [MENTION=12905]XenonDepot[/MENTION] has finally replaced my bad ballast and I haven't had an ignition failure since swapping the ballasts.

Customer service was delayed, but now I'm all set. I'm hooked up with the relays and the HIDs fire well in Auto and when flipping them on from the stalk.

Well, I ordered the 5k kit with the 10% discount yesterday. I just couldn't take the lack of factory lighting anymore. I'm definitely a little apprehensive about the dependability, but time will tell.

HID’s are good choice for low beams

Bought and installed an 4,300k HID kit including the capacitor, for the low beam headlight from xenonpro.com. My fairly thorough review of the subject indicates 4300k is the choice that produces the best, most usable light. Technically, for reasons you can research, the higher frequency 5k and 6k may appear brighter to you, but actually produce less light and cause more glare issues for those on the receiving side of the lights.
I have a 17 limited which I just bought. My wife kept asking if the standard lights were on because they seemed so wimpy. The HID’s are awesome, similar to the photos above.
Not sure how close price and quality equate with these things, but mine were half price sale and I am blown away by the improvement. Had some install issues and got great and helpful customer service from knowledgeable folks.

Got my kit installed over the weekend. Actual time putting it together was maybe 10-15 mins, but took another 45+ to get everything tucked away cleanly. So far really happy with the improvement over stock, but as others have pointed out, there is a bit of green hue at the cut off line. Maybe should've went with the Philips 4300k bulbs but wanted the lower cost entry to see how it performed. (I can always try other bulbs.)

Oh, I need another 3m double sided sticky pad as one of them was defective; paper cover was jacked up on one side and pulled off the actual sticky portion of the pad. Luckily there was just enough left to complete the install, but won't cut it long term. Will be calling the guys today for a replacement.

Overall? 4/5 rating so far...
(Easy ordering; quick processing and shipping; install was really easy for a non-wrench like me!.)

A lot of videos and write ups I’ve read no one really mentions it or they do use them leaving me confused...it’s not the cheapest kit but def looks the best just want to make sure I get the best use of it...Thanks in advance

I would recommend yes. XenonDepot has said that it shouldn't be needed but I have had a couple of misfires. I have the Limited with the auto lights and once the drive side did not fire when I started up in the garage and another time after driving into the garage (with the engine running) the passenger side failed to start once the car decided to switch on the low beams.

I do not have the relays installed. XenonDepot in other messages have stated that the relays may help if we have auto lights to ensure power is direct to ballast. In a couple of weeks after a vacation I will put the relay in as I am a bit disappointed to have two failed starts in two weeks.

I went with the 6500k kit and now regret not getting the Philips 4300k. Eventually I will switch to the Phillips bulbs. I am also seeing moisture build up in the headlights, assuming from the hole that needs to be created the grommet isn't weather sealed enough.

The philips are a little pricier but from what I’ve seen seem to be worth it just wasn’t sure about having to install the relays but I’m going to do it just to be safe and hopefully extend life/function of the kit
