XenonDepot LED Headlight bulbs in 06-09 projector housings

Reviewing the product found at this website:
XenonDepot H11

Installing this kit is as easy as changing light bulbs - disconnect the old wire, take the old bulb out, put the new bulb in, plug the new wire in. It does have a copper mesh heat sink that needs to be spread, but that's as easy as plugging the bulb in. This was in the 06-09 Projector headlights.

I would tend to say glare is no worse with the LED bulb than it was with the OEM H11 bulb. The light spread is improved as well.


I'll be adding LED fogs bulbs and LED high-beam bulbs in the future.

Wow! That is impressive light output and color. The only thing holding anyone back would the the $$$, I suppose. Do you think they were worth it?

those garage shots are all great and all, but how about the throw of light down the road. I have read that they LED bulbs do not nearly have the throw of HID bulbs.

I will take some pics tonight.
I think HIDs will get the best output, so HID>LED>Halogen. I just saw that these were available, had no moving parts (others have small cooling fans) and advertised higher lumens than H11's.

No pics yet, but I can say that I'm a little disappointed with the output. Yosh2000 is correct, they do not have the same throw, even has the standard halogen. In the circles below, you can tell that the halogen is throwing more light directly ahead, and the LED bulbs make a consistent brightness all the way across the field. The hot-spot directly ahead is what keeps the brightness of the headlights up as the beam is farther in front of the truck.
In the real world, the LEDs throw better light into the side of the road, but the Halogens provide better down-road visibility.



I have the XenonDepot XtremeHID 4300K kit coming, and I'll add the comparison to this review when it arrives.

OK, I installed one of the HIDs in one headlight, and left the LEDs in the other. HIDs blow the LEDs out of the water. Pics tonight once it gets dark out.

It was noticeable on the highway, trying to see long-range. Surface streets were OK, but still the OEM H11's were better.

OK, Here we go. HIDs in right low-beam headlight. Also replaced high beam and fog with HIR bulbs.

For the pics in the above post, I put one kind of headlight in one side, and another in the opposite side. For the pics, I just stood in front of the side I wasn't trying to take a picture of. So all of those pictures are of 1 headlight, rather than both.

In any case, HID every day of the week for me. Couldn't be happier. Kit was XenonDepot H11 Xtreme HID conversion kit, found here with the 4300K Philips bulb upgrade

HID's were plug-n-play, except the main power wire, which has to be bolted to the positive terminal on the battery, and grounds that have to be bolted to the body with bolts that are already there. No cutting or splicing necessary.

so you wasted money on leds, and then drop more money for hid kit, and got better result from leds. with that much money spent, i would of just did a quick retro from trs, although the mini d2s 2.0 sucks, its better than the led and drop in combine. but the best would be using a better projector. it does cost as much if not more than the quick retro, but it also requires some know how and paitence.

Yes, the HIDs blew everything else out of the water. I don't mind the extra expense, so long as it helped the community. Also I understand that retrofit housings are the best bet, but that still requires 90% of the hardware I've already installed now (HD relays, ballast, connectors to make it plug and play)

I *may* be biding my time until my dad gives me the S2000 projectors he recently replaced on his car, and if that works out, all I'll have to do is the install into the 4Runner housings, and new bulbs. Everything else is set to go.
