XM - Recent Renewals?

I renewed tonight for the same deal I've had the last 3 years:

Renewed for 365 days @ $94.99 ($73.41 + $11.23 (Royalty fee) + $5.92 (Indiana tax) = $94.99) = $7.92 per month for "XM Select" (1 Year Plan)

Okki

I got this exact same deal about a week ago when I renewed. I didn't want to have to hassle with them every 6 months. If you get the 1 year deal and use a credit card they will automatically charge the card the full price for an additional year once the current deal expires. Just gotta remember to call them about a month in advance.

For anyone waiting for an offer to come in the mail, just do what I did. I called them and told them I had received an offer in the mail for $77/year to renew (I received nothing in the mail) and then they told me since the price increased this year the best they could do would be half price for a year ($94/year). It seems $94/year is the replacement for the old $77/year deal.

Just got this deal for this year. I thought the guy was really going to shut me off this year, usually they are quicker to offer the lower rate. I thought I was gonna have to call back in on the 13th when it went off. :toilet:

Great advice everyone. I've got another question. Anyone running xm in two cars? What are the deals that can be had for dual service?

When you add more radios, the price for the additional ones goes down substantially. I think I'm paying $7.99/month for my second one. I just got my notice that my trial is expiring on the 4Runner. I'm letting it go. There's no way I'm paying for a third radio when I can just use my Pioneer Inno portable XM in the 4Runner. I hate the stock display anyway-you can't scroll over to read the full artist/song title. :(

Chiming in for an update for May 2012. I just renewed mine for $86/year (guess it went up a little bit from the $77/year last year). It's half price from the regular renewal rate.

Just renewed for $25 for 6 months.
XM p'ed me off when they wouldnt offer any sort of discount (I "only" have 2 lifetime, and a mo to mo on Iphone). Not to mention the lifetime on the factory radio is not transferable.
I have been a loyal customer for years. But even after all that nothing...(ok, done ranting).
So, I let me subscription runout and 6 weeks later I received offer via email.
I really renewed for my wife - I could care less. I now just stream via Bluetooth off Iphone. Works like a charm.

In January, I was able to get XM Premier (all channels including best of Sirius) for half price (around $100/year). My free trial ran out in April, but I called early because I missed some of my Sirius Channels.

It took me 3 phone calls to a special XM phone number I found on the internet, but I finally managed to get a deal from the rep. They were VERY reluctant to give me a deal and were not happy that I called the number without a good explanation of how I got it. I was stonewalled twice before the 3rd guy broke and worked with me (still reluctantly and a bit rudely). I played dumb and said my dealer provided me with the number, but I'm not sure he bought it. I guess the number isn't supposed to be used by the general public.

Before you ask, I don't remember the number, but I found it on some forum after a google search. It shouldn't be too difficult to find.

Adam,

My experience is that they send you offers of increasing discount near the time your subscription expires. It's the one they send you just after you let your subscription expire that's worth it. Mine was 50% off.

BTW, one of the best things about sat. radio is getting strong signal out in the middle of nowhere. It's totally changed the ambiance of wheelin' for me. No matter where you go, there you are.

I should've mentioned in my last post that the "Listener Care" guy that I talked to at first said no promotions and no deals on my radio (just doing his job I guess). I just told him that I'd have to cancel since it's too expensive. He sent me to the Cancellation department where the guy offered me the 50% off deal without blinking an eye. I also got the same deal for my husband's new Camry (he might have had to get some supervisory clearance on that one since he put me on hold for a few minutes).

I have two vehicles that I'd like to maintain XM for, but I've also read some horror stories about billing and dealing with the company. I like the product and the idea of it...but definitely not their business practices.

They leave it up to YOU to cancel after your promo deal runs out, and if you don't they bill you at the full price. Which would be fine if you got a statement/invoice right away, but they wait and bill you every 6 months so all of a sudden you get this massive bill (that is what happened to me). I fought it for a good hour on the phone and finally got it zeroed out but it was hell! I 'won' because they told me I had to cancel the end of the promo or else be billed, I told the rep 'NO', that I want it in the system for them to shut it off then and I would call if I wanted the service again, I was told 'ok'. I guess they are suppose to get a CC from you to bill, but they never got one from me. So towards the end the supervisor mentioned that bit of info, I laughed and said well you don't have it in your system, she looked and was surprised, completely changed her 'tune' and all was set. They just kept wanting to do half or say I could use it as a credit, etc, it was insane.

All that said, i did sign back up with that a month ago :hiding: but I marked on my calendar and set 2 reminders for a few days before it runs out to call and cancel or try to keep the same deal :)

i did same as 4run4life,
i told i would let it run out and not have it, it was to high, they cut the yearly price in half when my n3 free months expires

Life Time Access Transfers

...while at a stereo installation place getting a head unit changed, a gentleman was there the 4th time attempting to transfer his lifetime service to a new unit/car(?).

He did not appear to be having an easy time of it (..sarcasm is free today).

:toilet:

The new head unit allowed the use of Pandora (internet radio). If your smart phone works within the coverage area, so will Pandora.

In my humble opinion:
HD radio, IPOD/MP3 player via usb/aux-port, and pandora sound equally as good.

XM Radio may have the content you want and a wider coverage area, but it sounds weird ... "satellite'ish"... ha

:cry2:

Best, 4DR

I use Pandora at home and would LOVE to be able to get rid of XM, but unfortunately, I'm in a lot of places where I wouldn't get a signal (I have a satellite phone that I end up using more than my boss would like - lol!).

Like others, I'll probably end up renewing the 4Runner subscription just for my wife.

Been a Sirius customer since 2003 and yes, their customer service is...uh..."lacking." Always has been. What really cheesed me off, though, was changing the Boneyard station to Ozzy's Boneyard - now it's not only way more Ozzy/Sabbath than I can stand, but the interviews with him, his wife, and his re****ed family are too much for me. YMMV.

Yeah, that drove me crazy when Ozzy took over the boneyard. Instant delete from my radio presets. And I love Sabbath. It was just more than I could take. But I love me some Underground Garage and Deep Tracks!

I just called up and said I wanted to cancel. I was in a good mood and just said that it cost too much. She put me on hold and then offered me the half off plan so I said yes. Total w/ tax, etc is $103. It was truly painless, they didn't give me the run around and the lady I talked to was very nice.

Worth it for me as I literally don't even know if my FM/AM works.

My trial period expired Friday last week. I finally had a chance to call and as soon as a representative picked up I asked for the $86 for 1 year deal.

She said sure and total with taxes came to $101.

Quick and painless. I've done the same thing with all my previous rides with XM/Sirius. It used to be the $77 deal but that's no longer available unfortunately.
