XM - Recent Renewals?

My trial period expired Friday last week. I finally had a chance to call and as soon as a representative picked up I asked for the $86 for 1 year deal.

She said sure and total with taxes came to $101.

Quick and painless. I've done the same thing with all my previous rides with XM/Sirius. It used to be the $77 deal but that's no longer available unfortunately.

Just got the $86 deal as well after my trial ended. With taxes and all it was $94 and change... maybe a difference with CO taxes.

I had to ask for that deal as they were weren't offering it. Guy put me on hold to check if that was and available for me... came back pretty quick and said no problem.

Of course I'll have to make a calendar note for next year to call before the bill date to get readdressed.

I renewed tonight for the same deal I've had the last 3 years:

Renewed for 365 days @ $94.99 ($73.41 + $11.23 (Royalty fee) + $5.92 (Indiana tax) = $94.99) = $7.92 per month for "XM Select" (1 Year Plan)

Okki

Good deal, just got off the phone, nice lady, I ended up with the same plan as above for my 2nd year, XM Select, 1 year for $94.99, with royalty fee, and taxes, total came to $113.00 . You won't get it unless you talk to the "boss," guy wanted me to pay $195. for same XM Select for a year, told him nope, cut it off, so he said, "I have to connect you with so n so to talk to," I said fine. Thanks for the info guys.

Are you also renewing with NAV traffic?

Do our navs have traffic overlay? :wow2:

Yes they do. Your results do tend to vary by area. Since I live in the DFW area(and I notice you do too) , it has proven very useful. I can see, on screen, how the roads are doing (red, yellow, green). I also am alerted to "construction zones" and if I'm in "guidance mode" (going somewhere), it says things like "5 miles ahead on the route, slow traffic, 4 miles long." or "10 miles ahead on the route, road construction, right lane blocked". It's not bad, not the best, but not bad. With all this DFW traffic (especially the 635 corridor), I find it really helps me out. It's also nice if there's traffic I can kind of "pan ahead" on my NAV to determine WHERE the wreck is, then bail off the freeway to go around it. I find it very useful.

XM is offering me $4.17/mo for 6mo since I cancelled earlier this month. I'm not around to enjoy it even if I reup'd my subscription.

I only renewed once at the 6 month deal before. Then XM was doing the 1 or 2 week freebie for everyone back in June. What I noticed was that the signal was just getting worse in my area. Clear view of the sky and I would get dead signals... Very annoying. I just use Pandora now or music on the phone. Wish reception was better though.

XM Serice

I was not satisfied with their service. My primary car has the Mark Levinson system with a 19 speaker surround sound setup. I called to cancel because the sound was not even good. Before I could finish what I wanted to tell them they offered to cut the price in half. Three days later they called me and offered to cut the price again. Told them no, I cancelled for a reason and you cannot fix that. I loaded over 100 CD's onto flash drive and the sound is great and I only have to listen to the music that I want to hear.

Xm

With smart phones and streaming music, etc, I cannot see them being around too much longer unless they make some terrific changes and upgrades. so much music out there with better quality sound than XM/Sirius can provide at this time.

Called today to renew for $25/6month (same plan I was already on) and they told me they couldn't offer it anymore. I had them cancel the plan but I'm sure I will receive an offer in the mail.

Is the traffic overlay an option you have to turn on? I live in DFW too and haven't noticed this on my NAV. I have a 2012 LE with Entune and NAV. Thx

Has anyone recently renewed XM?

If so, what were the quotes?

Thanks

I switched to Sirius because I found some units at Goodwill that still work without a subscription! Sirius and XM both have the same music channels now so the first 100 or so are identical. They have some different talk radio and sports channels above 100 though. While Sirius has Howard Stern XM has some talk radio stations from Clear Channel.
If you can find a used older model like the Sportster R there is a good chance it will work as long as it has the dock with it. It helps to try it in the store if you can find the power adapter and antenna. Antennas for both services are interchangeable but you have to get a power adapter with the correct voltage for the unit. You don't have to listen to it to see if it works but you can use a headphone if you want to listen to test it. If it hasn't been used in a while it will take several minutes to download and install the updated list of channels then it should get just about every channel between 2 and 160. If it only gets 184 then it hasn't ever been authorized or else the subscription has run out.
There are a few that came with 8-9 channels pre-autherized and can only get Oprah and NBA sports channels so they should be avoided unless you happen to like Oprah!
BTW, while the little 1" square antenna works fine in most cases there is a high gain model that's better. It's round and a little bit larger, about 2" across and has a shiny disc in the center. It will still get reception even while parked underneath a tree and costs $15 on ebay.
