XM - Recent Renewals?

I have one more month of the trial left and got an email today offering six months for 4.99/ mo. It says after which I would be billed at the regular rate which is like 17.99/ mo. I might call and see if I can get the six months only, but doubtful as this is the bait and then they reel you in.

that 17.99 for 6 months.. equates to be more than the 1 yr for 87+tax deal... just so you know.. unless you can cancel after that 6 month 4.99 deal

They are running a free trial now. I think it is for 60 days, but I don't know when it started. Just tune in your favorite station.

I recieved an offer the other day for 6 months at 25 dollars, plus they are turning mine on for 10 days now free, only 60 of the channels.

Like others in this thread I got a renewal notice for lots more than I paid last year - $205 for the next year. They called me 3x a day for the last week and I ignored them; finally took their call today. The first rep transferred me to a "supervisor" (slightly less thick accent) when I mentioned "promo". That rep asked me 2x if I wanted to continue the service if they were unable to give me a promo. She did some checking and what do you know - no promo rates were available. I told her I wanted to cancel, and they suddenly came up with $86 for the next year plus a pro-rated amount for the time that already passed since my last year expired.

Seems like all you have to do is say it's too expensive & you want to cancel; they'll offer you a deal.

Plenty of us (myself included) have posted up here about negative XM customer service experiences, so I've got to throw out a positive one.

I let my subscription expire when I deployed, and am now home on R&R. Wife and I will be doing some road trips, so wanted XM back for these few weeks. Called up XM expecting a fight, but the lady quickly gave me a 99cent rate for one month, and set it to auto expire so I wouldn't need to call back and cancel or worry about the auto renewal.

Thanks XM for making this one of the more pleasant experiences I've had with you all. :hatsoff:

Haven't read this entire thread so if its been said sorry... But mine just expired and they auto-renewed it for $150ish (think that was for 6months) so I called and was shocked to get a English speaking rep. Gave them the same story I always do and said I wanted to cancel and blah blah blah I only use it to listen to Howard stern and he only works like 3 days a week every other month so no way I paying $150 for that.... And with pandora available I see no need for it anymore so please just cancel it... So she said she would credit my account the $150 and would only charge me 19.99 for 5 months for my same service ... And then she went through reading the terms and before she tried to hangup I repeated that its the best of XM and I have Internet service so I can listen to the app in the gym right? and she said oh I didn't know you wanted the Internet service... She said it would be an additional $20 for the 5months making it $40... I said please just cancel my service I am trying to reduce my bills and she said ok well I'll just include it in your $19.99 for 5month plan... I hate every 5-6months having to negotiate to get a lower price but... Such is life

Renewed yesterday

I called the 1-877-575-3258 number yesterday and got a lady that immediately offered the $25 for 6 months package. English was obviously not her first language but I could understand her most of the time. The big sticking point was she kept trying to get me on the automatic renewal even though I said I wanted my XM turned off after the 6 months. I must have said it 4 times before she finally acknowledged it. She tried to slip the additonal XM radio in there last minute too but I shut her down on that as well. Bottomline, the $25/6mo offer still exists but you have to be on them to make sure they don't slip anything else in your package or try to get you signed up for the auto renewal.

xm

I used to have XM for five years I have three vehicles and it was getting too expensive, their sound quality is terrible and the music is not surround sound and I do not even think it is stereo. I stream through my smart phone for two of my vehicles and on the other I downloaded 50+ CD's to my computer and then put them on a flash drive and plug into the USB port and I get all the music I desire and I can add more when and if I need to and no fees to pay to XM. I already owned the CD's, so no additional expense there. One of my vehicles has the Mark Levinson 19 Speaker Surround Sound system and this makes a big difference in sound quality. On one 16GB flash drive (about $10) you can download in excess of 12,000 songs.

Why mess with them. Their prices can be high, the quality of the sound is not all that great and it does not play in surround mode. I stream audio of my choice in surround sound as my vehicle has a surround sound system. I have three vehicles and to put it in all three is even more expensive. On one of my vehicles I just down loaded about 600 songs from CD's using my computer and put it on a flash drive. It goes in my truck and the quality of sound is sill better than most XM radios I have listened to in other people's vehicles and best of all my music is basically "FREE".

Two recent posts in a XM thread? Who are you trying to convince?

I'd been a Sirius subscriber for years, since like 02 or 03, and so getting the XM in my new 4Runner turned on was actually quite a bit of a nightmare. I didn't want the "trial" because the trial didn't offer the stations I listened to. So I knew I was going to have to upgrade, however because the trial was under the dealership's account this was a nightmare in itself. 2.5 hours and numerous return calls etc. Each time someone tried to tell me they couldn't do it, or there would be additional fees, or they'd try to keep me on the trial. I was on with one girl and I told her exactly what I wanted and as soon as she started trying to tell me some other BS, I told her "no, that's not how it works, I'm already a subscriber, find me your supervisor you and I are done talking"....supervisor got on the phone, I explained exactly what I wanted, and in less than 10 minutes she had me all set and ready to go. I was furious!

Those who are always complaining about the service, costs, etc. If you are not that satisfied dump it and get something else.

They keep sending letters with the same offer, 6 months for $25 + taxes. Different phone numbers, so if the number above doesn't work for you try this one...1-877-647-3005

Would you post the letter online or e-mail to me so I can renew at this rate? I called today and they said they needed the name of the person who signed the letter and a couple of other things from the letter (don't remember exactly what) to give me this rate. Thanks!

Never heard of this much questioning from these people. Usually you can just say "I need to cancel the service", at which point they will "speak with a supervisor" and magically are then "able to give you a promotional 1-time 6-month rate at a discounted price to keep your business".

I'd probably just try calling again and hopefully you get someone else helping you

Third time must be a charm...I did a little internet search and came up with this information:

Existing Customers - How to get 50% off Sirius XM Radio

Called the number (888-601-6302) and told them I wanted to cancel my subscription. The rep asked why and I said too expensive. He asked if I'd ever been offered a year at half price of $87 and I said no. He said he could offer me that today...came to $95.19 with taxes/fees and they waived the outstanding charge of around $30 on my bill for the previous month and a half of usage. So I ended up with 12 months for $95.19.

Perserverance pays off!

Just got 6 months for $38.11 + $2.00 for invoice vs credit card. (Yeah, sort of a rip on the 'invoice' charge, but i was tired yacking at that point). Set up a mtg in my outlook calendar to call and do the dance all over again in 5 months and 25ish days.

Got a 4.95/month deal for six months. 35.68 total with all the BS charges. I also set my calendar to alert me in time to cancel. I'm thinking pandora is a better deal tho at 3.99/ month for unlimited or 36$ for the year and no adds. Being able to select my own music is nice. I might dump Sirius at the end of my six months and go with pandora. Verizon signal is everywhere and data is unlimited, not much of a downside I can see.

I got the same deal for 6mo, I honestly got it for the Jason Ellis show on Faction XM41. I really only listen to like 4-5 different channels.

I just renewed mine a few weeks ago. They were going to give me the incredible "deal" of 1 year for $130 or something. I asked if there were any additional deals being offered because at that price I would just stick with my iPod plugged full of music. They then offered 6 months for $30. I took that.
