I haven't done it, gave up on sat radio. Bluetooth streaming with Pandora is better for me since the area i'm in has spotty SAT radio coverage.

I don't believe that, you can't have spotty satellite coverage, that's not possible unless you drive to upper Canada or down in Mexico where the signal gets weak. The satellite coverage map shows good coverage all over N. America.
But anyway I'd like to know how you are able to get better reception using Bluetooth streaming with Pandora since you need constant 3G coverage with no breaks in it for that to work? You must have parked in a place that has a good signal and never moved? I've tried listening to internet radio on my phone while driving around the Phoenix area and it's just not practical because the cell towers are too far apart for constant streaming. I even put my phone up in the overhead bin in the ceiling for best reception and I can't keep it playing. Every time I move from one area to another and it loses the connection for a few minutes it will stop playing, then I have to fuss with it to start it playing when I get the signal again which is a problem while driving on the freeway. I recently drove across Texas and there was no cellphone signal at all when I left El Paso until I got almost all the way to San Antonia! On the other hand, Sirius and XM reception is good everywhere.

The satellite coverage from Austin to western Colo is very spotty, as is cell coverage (ATT). However, my 2010 4R has one of the worst Sat receivers I have encountered. They must put the absolute minimum amount memory in those units as it cut's out even when going under an overpass at 75mph. Just pathetic.:ybrick:

It might be the town I am in or however Toyota decided to place the antenna on the 4Runner or maybe even a combination of both. Going through town the SAT cuts out at a specific spot while waiting for the light. Leaving town is the same thing. Some parts of my driveway have the same problem, but if I backup a few feet I can get the signal. Specific spots just end up being dead zones where the radio hisses that static sound and then cuts out.
Some other people seem to have the same problem as well. This is what I found while searching, I thought it might have been just a specific case to me (faulty antenna on the 4Runner).

As for cell reception, I have Sprint, but as everyone knows their data network isn't the best. I force roam my phone so it uses Verizon towers/service. In some areas cell phone reception is almost non-existent even though the coverage maps shows great coverage. This is why they have those mini cell towers that hook up to your router for in home usage. (See Here and Here)
I just have better reception with my phone compared with the SAT radio in the areas that I drive through. Again, it's probably one of those "your mileage may vary".

My satellite radio cuts out going under bridges, parking garages and in certain wide open spots around my town. I got a pretty good six month renewed special but after that's over if the price goes up much at all ill,probably just use pandora. Verizon's coverage is stellar and I've never not been able to listen to it whenever and wherever I wanted. Plus the selection beats the crap out of Sirius.

Satellite coverage is not spotty, it's strong over the whole country! There is a Sirius satellite called FM5 at 96.0 deg. and XM3 at 85.1 and XM4 at 115 deg. which is pretty much right overhead no matter where you are and provide good coverage for the entire USA. If you aren't getting good reception because you have a weak receiver or bad antenna you should get it fixed instead of blaming the service.

Bridges, overpasses and parking garages will of course block the signal since it's satellite and you need a clear view of the sky but it shouldn't cut out in wide open spots or even underneath trees. If it does then you have something wrong with your receiver. In major cities they have terrestrial transmitter repeaters that broadcast a strong signal locally to make it work between tall buildings, underneath bridges, in parking garages and even inside office buildings but I can just sit the antenna in a window in my house and get a strong signal even though I'm out of range of the Phoenix terrestrial repeater. There is an improved type of high gain antenna that might help you guys get a better signal who are having problems with reception. It's a black plastic disc about 2" in diameter with a shiny metal disc about 1" diameter in the center available for about $15 on ebay. I've tested them side by side with older style antennas and they provide a stronger signal and better reception underneath trees compared to the little square ones.

After my trial ended, I did not buy it. They sent me offer after offer. Each offer got lower and lower the more I ignored them. Finally they sent an offer for 6 months for a grand total with fees and all of $42. I am sure it is just a teaser and they will try to jack up the price on renewal, but I will cancel/not renew just so they will start sending more offers. Hopefully they will come back down to a reasonable level if they want to keep me as a customer.
That being said, I think Sirius XM radio is wonderful.

I think you've been Seriusly drinking the Kool-Aide. Tell me why I don't have issues when driving in metropolitan areas and have spotty coverage in some rural areas with clear unobstructed sky then?
Actually I wasn't bashing Serius/XM as much as Toyota for their weak Sat receiver. As I indicated, given that the receiver stores the compressed signal for a few seconds to minimize gaps when driving under overpasses, etc., my 4R has almost no storage and will gap at hwy speeds under a two lane overpass...maybe 1 second total.

Just got 6 months of Premier, upgraded from the trial of Select, for $34.95. With tax and mailed invoice the total is $42.98. I did not want to have a credit card on file for automatic nenewal.

I don't see the need for XM...
As well as the bluetooth connects along with pandora, podcasts, and other sports and news apps, I don't see much of a need for XM.
As far as I'm concerned the only benefit would be for live games that you cannot find on an app or local radio, and that would only be beneficial if I was on a long trip by myself (my wife isn't a fan of sports on the radio) in a location/at a time I couldn't catch the game on local radio... And I'm not a huge fan of listening to games on the radio myself anyway unless it is an OU Football game (and I just plan trips around those).

I let mine lapse. Programming sucks, prices are high, Pandora costs a fraction of that.
I run my cell phone through the AUX input/headphone jack. Bluetooth seems to compress the data and it sounds terrible.
