XM - Recent Renewals?

Wonder if I can move the XM unit from my prius to my 4runner.. if it's the same part.

My 2010 prius has free XM/Traffic until 2013 as it was added while I worked for Toyo, and Xm was included for all corporate leases. Since the prius only gets driven 5 days a month now, perhaps I can just swap the units..

anyone know if it's the same unit?

I wonder if you call XM and tell them you had problems with your head unit on your Prius and had to get it replaced with a new head unit. Now you need to transfer over your XM subscription to your new head unit.

When they ask for your new XM number, give them the one on the 4Runner.

Just a thought...

I don't know about you guys, but I don't know what I am going to do when my year subscription runs out in June. I just bought an Android phone and have enjoyed streaming music through BT.

With more options for consumers to stream music like Pandora, it has got to start taking a bite out of XM. Let's hope they get more aggressive on their pricing.

$77 a year is worth it to me. $12.95 a month is a no go for me!

Well, mine ran out after the three month trial and I asked them to renew after not having it for three days. I told the rep I would like to pay for the full year but asked that they waive the activation fee of $15.00. She stated no and I said no thank you. About a month ago they called and offered it to me for $70.00. You think they could have offered me that in the beginning. I got so steamed I said no thanks. I've been listening to NPR and my Ipod since. I don't miss it so much.

My trial just ended and I called about a subscription. The XM sales rep had a thick Indian accent. She only offered the full price ($144/yr + fees) plans. The Family Plan was a little cheaper, but not much.

When I said it was too expensive and asked what else they had cheaper, she tried to sell me a $77/Quarter plan. Either she was really stupid or she thought I was.

I ended up not subscribing. I'll reconsider if they call me with one of the $77/yr plans.

I got it for $77 for a year. I called XM back and explained that my friend had gotten it for $77, and I wanted the same price. They said "ok."

Thanks, friend.

$77 for me

my 3 month trial expired while i was out of town on vacation. i had ignored the renewal requests that came in the mail because i was hoping for the $77 deal to come.
i called xm...and you should expect to be on the phone with them for a while...after the girl read from her scripts, i finally asked, "isn't there some kind of deal for $77"? she said, "would you like that"? duh...thanks.
i am now signed up. it was $86 something after "artists royalty fee and taxes". Sirius does the same thing. now my Xm is back in order. the girl did say that i could either let this renew next year automatically, cancel, OR, renew at the new rate...i'll take my chances.
for those of you living off the Pandora, Slacker, iheartradio stuff. i do too. but, they don't work when i'm travelling through areas without cell service.

called yesterday and pulled the friend has the $77/ year and they offered it to me, no questions asked.

I then proceeded to ask if there was a better deal that I could take advantage of and the kind foreign lady said she could offer me the 5 months for $20 deal.

This will be the third time i have used this deal. Cant beat $4 a month. :hungry:

Thanks for posting to this thread. I was wondering what the going rate is for XM renewal. I will definately try the 5 mo/$20 deal when it comes time...

Sorry if this has already been posted somewhere...when I first picked up my 2011 Limited, the XM nav traffic wasn't working so I called XM. They said some cars default to 3 mos of XM radio and nav traffic and some default to 2 years XM radio without nav traffic (which can be turned on later).

So they gave me the option of 2 years free radio OR 3 mos of radio and traffic. I kept the 2 years free.

Might be worth checking into.

I will try that as well.

I bought my 5th gen in late 2010 and XM is still working fine. I have been receiving letters from XM saying "you must be missing your XM radio by now", and I just laugh.

When they finally do get around to shutting it off, I will go for the $20 deal.

Mine was turned off b/4 the 3 month trial was over. I'm like the post above, I have an ipod (commercial free) and a local talk radio station to keep me occupied. I can do without pay radio. Zi/

I'd laugh too..that's funny cause the salesman who sold me mine said that he recently had a customer tell him that XM never turned off his subscription and he had his car for a few years. I'm hoping I luck out like that...LOL

I just called and asked for the 5mo for $20 but asked if I could get the best of Sirius Included and I got both for 5mo for $33 OTD. good deal i think. I like stern.

Mine expires in June -- they called and I asked for the annual $77 fee.. they said they could not give it to me until my trial expires...

I will wait and see if they come back with a good offer.... otherwise, I will use the money to load up my Iphone...

I just got the 5 month for $20 deal, but it was like $22.15 after tax. Not bad for 5 months, so I will be content till then.

No autorenewal and bill sent to address so no CC on file with them. :D

I just paid $77 for one year last week. They do charge $11 royalty to that for a grand total of $88.

i got that exact same deal .. i just let my free trail expire and they called about a week later offering one year for 77 and 88 total!

Does anyone know if they still offer lifetime subs?? It looks like at the beginning of the thread, a year ago they did. But a lot has changed in a year.

1 Year $84.84

Just renewed My XM subscription for 1 year for $84.84 total. I called 2 days before my previous year was up and told them I want to cancel. I was told they could give me the 1/2 off deal of $77.00 for a year and they would credit me the 2 days left on my subscription.

Good post :thanks:, just in time, for me. My sub runs out on July 20, 2011, I'll call and see if I can get a deal like that :thumb3:.
