XM to Sirius Conversion?

Traded 2005 SR5 and picked up 2010 SR5 on Saturday (yeah!). Came with "upgraded" stereo (not JBL) with Bluetooth, XM, 8 speakers, etc.
Would like to get away from XM and go to Sirius, especially since I have a lifetime subscription.
QUESTION: Can this be done with the 2010s factory head units?
I have been told yes, just need to change out receiver (easy fix)
However, I have also been told that Toyota has integrated XM into head unit. (pain in the butt fix, $$, and extra to reintegrate hands free, etc.)
This would suck if so. Please do not let this be. Anyone help me on this?

Hey Shawn - it was my understanding that XM and Sirius are one in the same now (called SiriusXM), could you not just have your lifetime subscription change over to your new truck?

I had 6 months left on my Sirius and they WOULD NOT transfer the balance of the contract to XM...and I had to pay on it since last Nov. to this March or pay a hefty fee..

So you know what?!


Yep..you guessed it...

_'em is right...now they can kiss all my business goodbye...I'll use my iphone and buy an album a month from iTunes

I was told "No" by XM and SIRIUS. The worst part is XM offers a lifetime but it is not transferable (Sirius allows you to transfer three times - in the case you need to replace a receiver.) Furthermore, XM will not give a lifetime to a Factory installed radio - (WTF?) I asked the cust service rep but she couldn't answer but did say I could buy and aftermarket and go from there - (thanks?)

Just install the Siruis unit. When plugged into the aux input it sounds great.

I am an XM subscriber and even though XM comes built in, I am already missing the features of the Xmp3 player. I think they could have designed the xm functionality a lot better than they did, especially on the nav unit. There is a lot of screen real estate to work with.

I agree totally that XM functionality is a joke on this NAV unit.
