So i just purchased a 07 sport and have been looking on this site (Tons of helpful info by the way) But as i look at the leveling kits i notice they say for non XREAS vehicles... Is this just a recommendation by the company or are the strut tops an actual different bolt pattern?? Thanks

I think it's more of a liability thing. As far as I know the bolt patterns are the same and I know for a fact that the Toytec spacers works perfectly with XREAS... I installed them myself on mine. I'm sure that any top-out spacer will work, but I know that many shops will not do suspension mods on a 4Runner with XREAS... they just don't know enough about it.
It is more a functional limit.
You can use the daystar 1.5 with XREAS. The reason you cannot do more is the XREAS will break and when 1 shock breaks, the entire system is compromised.
Many people, FYI, who want to add height will actually remove the XREAS system and throw on some aftermarket shocks.

If you wanna run 285's, remove the XREAS and get new suspension. Either OME kit, OME coils/Bilstein shocks, FJ coils/Bilstein shocks or coilovers. I ditched my XREAS at 82k for OME/Toytec coils and Bilstein 5100 shocks. Im very glad i didnt do the DS2.5/1.5 like i had planned!

As said above. You can use "top out" spacers (the spacer goes on top of the coil/shock combo and out side of the combo) on XREAS setups. There are some spacers that mount inside the combo and will damage the XREAS. THE biggest problem with top out spacers is that they allow the wheels to droop beyond a safe limit for the CVs which can cause CV damage and/or the CV to actually pull apart.
The kit i can get also has diff spacers to eliminate the cv angle.. It's crazy that i have been a Toyota tech for 7 years now and i don't know **** about XREAS.. lol.. We rarely have problems with it. I'm just excited that i finally bought a Toyota!! we have the leveling kit in stock at work so i think i am going to throw it on there and see how i like it first.. It's crazy the price difference from 255/80/17's compared to 275/70/17's... i think i might just go with the 255's

The Gen4 front diff is actually lower than the hubs when stock... the axle shafts are angled up to the hubs. I added 2" of lift (FJ coils + Toytec spacers) to my XREAS and my shafts are just the other side of being flat meaning that my diff is now just slightly above the hubs. The stock shocks limit the downward travel... I lift tires off the ground all the time while off-roading. I know that it's not ideal, but it works until I get my OW 2.0 set-up! :naughty:

Heh, I know what you mean. I was planning my lift on my 4Runner and it occured to e that I have the XREAS on my Sport Edition. I was like, "well wtf is it?" after spending some time on TIS and reading up on it, it was pretty clear afterwards.
I am still surprised that we haven't seen any XREAS systems that have failed at the dealership yet. I guess most people either tossed the system or got lucky...

I just put a 3/2 lift on my '04 Sport with XREAS and it was not easy... ended up spending the whole weekend on it and broke one of the XREAS seals ruining the whole system. My truck does look great, however drives awful and bumps and rattles. But I plan on pulling the whole system out and replacing it with Pro-Comp shocks and struts this weekend. (Pro-comp is WAY cheaper than the bilstein that everyone seems to run)
