I bought the Yakima Buttondown6 rack used with cores already installed with no keys. I want to buy new cores with keys...or new keys to fit. Anyone know how to?
Yakima lock cores.. how do you remove the cores without a key?

Thule guy myself, but there's probably a key code on the lock cylinder for you to get a replacement. After you get the code, just head over to something like http://www.rackattack.com/product-p...&utm_campaign=google-products&utm_term=200KEY and get a new set of keys.

If you do not have the keys for your rack, here are the steps in finding out which key you need:
Non-SKS keys
Is there a number on the lock, by the keyhole, that starts with number "0"? If so, that is your key number, and you can order a replacement by calling Customer Service.
SKS keys
If locked, a locksmith can pick the lock. Once it is unlocked, use the Flat Edged Control Key (the uncut key) to remove the lock core. If you no longer have a Control Key, check with your local dealer or give us a call. The key number will be on the side or back of the lock core, and starts with the letter "A".
To order replacement keys ($4.50ea for SKS, $5.00ea for non-SKS) or cores ($12.00ea) matched to your existing system, please contact Customer Service at 888-925-4621 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.

The yakima racks come with a blank key - use that to take them out. If no key, All you have to do is go to the dealer and they will take it out and you can buy your new locks right there. $20.00, If I'm not mistaken.

Of course this only works if the existing cores are in the unlocked position. If they are locked you probably have to order replacement keys from Yakima or get a hammer.

Just for future reference, found the best (cheapest) place for Thule or Yakima replacement keys!
On the net where you bid for things, ebay, name is 101LOCK !
2 keys (two!) with shipping around $6.5
They also have change keys for almost half of that amount.
