That's a first for me. I've seen '96-98 base model/4cyl's without one, but never an SR5 or '99+!
Looks like a nice rig man. Your F150 was gorgeous, sorry to hear about the headaches and heartbreaks with it.
Was your grill damaged or what? I didn't see you mention why it's off.
Also- not to incriminate you, but- is there any exceptions to not being able to drive?! I can't imagine not being able to drive at all.

I don't see how they have the snowflake emblem though...Traction in the sand was poor: aired down to 15psi, locked in 4L.

Wait, was that a typo? I mean, it's not a sandflake; it's a snowflake [emoji12] Sand and snow require quite different tires... not that there aren't several tires that do fine in both. And I can't believe anyone could say "is balancing the only downside- as if that isn't a HUGE issue. I'm 100% with you- unable to perfectly balance would be a deal breaker for me 100%.

I still wish I would've kept the truck some days, but I wouldn't have ever been in a position to get the engine built.

No exceptions for driving. So I am pretty well home bound outside of work. I'm making the best of it though.

I was mainly making two different comments. I guess long story short, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They are poor on road and poor offroad. Also, for an e load tire, they only have an 8 ply tread instead of 10 like most other e loads. The sidewall feels very thin to the hand. I got a killer deal on them for $480 shipped to me, but they doesn't offset the vibrations. If they don't sell, I may keep them as a winter set. Which leads to my next planned mod.

Oh man, I'm so stoked to hear that! That factory color matched grill is gonna look so good- a color matched '99/00 grill is my favorite 3rd gen grill. I actually have one waiting to get painted myself.
That's a solid choice for wheels and tires. Sucks to hear about all the headaches you've had with the Falkens. I'd love to see a happy/good outcome to it all.

I am going to slowly work my way towards building a color matched body.
Grille will go on.

I bought 3 cans of automotive primer, 6 cans of dupli-color millennium silver and 3 cans a automotive high gloss clear. I will purchase the 3-piece rear bumper shell and paint it myself. I made an offer on a 99 front bumper assembly that is oem silver as well.

Random though but the 265/75/16 Falkens I have now are e-load, 3/8ply, that measure 31.7x10.6, and weigh 55lbs.
The 275/70/17 KO2s are e-load, 3/10ply, that measure 32.2x11.0, and weigh 55.29 lbs.

Essentially I get a tire that is 1/2" taller, 1/2" wider, more tread plys, but weighs only a few ounces more.
I can upsize and maybe keep the same MPG if not gain a little due to lower cruising rpm.

Man I am getting anxious not being able to drive. I did notice when riding with my wife this weekend, that there is a little front end noise at slow speeds. I am thinking CVs.
Any suggestions?
I may just take the downtime to replace the CVs with oem and some extended silicone inner boots. Do the wheel bearings while I am there too?

Anywho, put the Baja rack to work and picked up our tree this weekend. It took so much convincing to talk her into getting a real tree let alone getting one that was taller than me (I had to fake some emotional attachment to one).

Ordered more things since I can't drive (makes sense right?)
Bolt-on front d-ring mounts from a member on here. I released how there are essentially no solid hook points if I got into trouble. Seemed like a no brainer.
Also bought an oem silver front bumper from Texas.
These won't be going on until after New Years.
Operation chrome delete is on track.

Finally I am selling my spidertrax wheel spacers since I decided to save for the MEthod/KO2 combo instead.

I finished the fluid film job on the undercarriage.
I used 10 spray cans and grouped areas into steps so I wouldn't miss anywhere
1. Inside frame rails and crossmembers
1B. Outside of frame and crossmembers
2. All the welder mounts such as body mounts.
3. Suspension components
4. Inside bumpers and wheelwells
5. Inside body panels, door drains, door jams etc.
Overall it took about 2hrs and I had to throw away the clothes I was wearing. There was essentially no drip, and I'm optimistic that it will last all winter.

Sadly, I noticed both inner cv boots were leaking....

I feel like I've heard other people having issues balancing them, maybe I just don't have much to compare them to lol, or got lucky. Definitely can't beat the price, though, and I think they look great.

How thick of a coat did you apply of the Fluid Film? I'm getting ready to tackle that once I finish up a few other projects, but I've never used it before.

I liked the tread design, aggressive sidewall, and 55k warranty of the Falkens. Their lack of performance will have me moving on from them. I will either go with KO2s or the ST/Maxx

I would suggest buying the gallon can, a paint suit, and brushing it on, essentially everywhere. I sprayed it on as thick as I could...almost 11 cans is a lot too. I burned 4 cans inside the frame too. That, to me is the most important Thing to remember.
Spray the most where you don't see because these rust from the inside out.
Top areas of importance for me were:
Inside frame rails
Inside crossmembers
Inside body/suspension mounts and control arms
Inside body panel seams and lower door drains.
It was just under 40 degrees when I applied it, which is less than ideal, so hopefully it sets up well.

Replaced my battery with an Interstate Mega-Tron Plus 6 year battery.
Upped to 800CCA and 140 reserve capacity.
I checked the old battery that was in it. It was an already upgraded 750 CCA group 24, AAA brand battery that was........drumroll.......................stickered from 2005!

My 99 3RZ doesn't have a sunroof. I dont think 99 & 00 base model's had them either. They suck anyway.

I have the same one. 1998 same color and everything. Good job on the build. How did you wire the lights up? That's one of the first things I'm going to do. Also who makes those tires??

The pig tails go through the hole on the front of the oem roof rails. Winter hit me mid-install and I do not have the rest wired up yet.
The tires are Falken AT3/W

Too stiff, the rear slams through any bump in the road. If I knew I wouldn't change out the rear coils, I would get custom length kings or foxes

I'm definitely on the fence about which wheels and tires.
Rank in order of current preference.
1. 17x8.5 MEthod con 6 bronze.
Great looking wheel I don't see on 3rd gen often. Bronze is the new black.
Expensive and the spokes are too thick for my taste.

2. 16x8 FN 5-star gray.
Classic styling. More tire sidewall for airing down. The color may blend into the silver too much.

3. Level 8 MK6 17x8 gray.
Played out-they're everywhere. Cheap and simple looking

Sharing other people vehicles for reference.
I need to decide because they will dictate whether I will get 265/75/16s or 265/70/17s. March 1st is getting here quick and I want to take advantage of discount tire directs biannual eBay tire sale.

What do you guys think?
