I think you would really like my lift. Those kits you listed are Tundra rear shocks which I have never heard of anyone using. I have a rake with my Tundra coils/890's with the Bilsteins on 1 perch from the bottom.

Did I read right on another thread you used a top spacer as well? What kind of rear shocks did you use with the 890s?

No top spacer. I have the 5100's so no top spacer. I had to switch things up recently and had top spacers until I got the 5100's. I am using the stock rear shocks from a 95 land cruiser in the back. They can be had new for 31 a piece online.

I don't mean to steal your thread but I'd like to get a lift question answered and can't figure out how to start a new thread. I just installed the Ultimate on my 97. The first time in 14 years I've ever spent any time underneath. This forum motivated me. After I installed the diff drop and as I was trying to figure out how to mod the skid plate I noticed what I think is the motor to engage the 4wheel drive (name?) almost rubbing on the cross member(name?) Should I be concerned? The pic makes it look like they're touching but I can get a peice of paper between them. Without the diff drop there's almost an inch betwen the 2 pcs.

It's normal Minesince97, mine's the same way. It's just how it is with a diff drop.

Thanks, I'll check it out! I found someone local selling an almost new set of coils/shocks for the front and shocks for the back on Craigslist for $300, unfortunately it's from a 2011 Tundra. Too bad those probably wouldn't fit our trucks.

Quick question: How stiff is your back-end with those shocks, and did you use the 10mm trim packers like used in the 7.2 system from Sonoran Steel?

I'm using Tundra rear shocks, well...the part # says they are for a Tundra but I got them from Steve @ SS. The part # is listed in my build thread on YT, link in sig.

The panhard drop (in theory) moves the mount for the panhard bar down on the frame side to re-center the rear axle. It is questionable whether you NEED it or not, I run LC coils with no panhard drop installed, I have the toytec panhard drop I just haven't installed it yet.

Sorry, last question.. What's the Tundra coil isolator?

I really appreciate you and everyone's help! I've been looking forward to lifting my 4Runner for a looooong time, and I want to make sure I do it right the first time.

Mauzer, thanks for the clarification on the rear tundra shocks. I always wondered where Sonoran got theirs.

The Tundra spring isolator is the rubber piece you switch out on your top plate so the tundra springs fit properly. You can buy them from Wheelers Off Road for 14 dollars.

Another thought crossed my mind...

If I put on the LC 7wrap coils and pair them with a shock shorter shock (say the OME's 60028), would that limit my lift, and what affect would that have on the coils and shocks?

They wouldn't limit your lift they would limit your flex, it would also shorten the life on the shock since you would basically be using it as a bumpstop. Never use a shock that is too short or too long.

Thanks for the confirm, that's what I thought. I think I'm gonna go the route you went with the blisteins all around, tundra coils in front and LC coils in back (no body lift, though). Thanks again for all the input!

Depending on your lift it's not terribly necessary, but a very good precaution. I'm definitely putting some on as I'm going close to a 3" lift up front and definitely 3+ in the back. I'm also going to be getting these from Toytec Lifts, but you can also get them from Sonoran Steel.

Both are good places. The cheapest place I have found is Cornfed Suspensions .

Okay, so I thought I'd put out an update to my lift! It's not on. YET. But I do have all the parts! Here's what I ended up going with:

FRONT: Tundra TRD Front coils w/Blistein 5100 Adjustable struts. I had Toytec (Thanks Dylan!) put 'em together with some 4Runner tophats.

REAR: LandCruiser Front coils w/Blistein 5125 shocks (BE5-6252-H5)

(shock covers and eye-to-stud adapters pictured as well)


I also got the Toytec Differential drop and Panhard drop bracket

Now I just gotta find some time to get this installed! I can't wait! Once in place I'll be definitely posting before and after pictures for those who are curious (like myself).

You are going to like the Bilsteins and the Tundra coils.

My first lift used the same. I used OME 890 rear coils. The LC coils are softer. I'm now (as of a few days ago) am running LC 9.25 wrap coils and they have a great ride. I haven't put much of a load on them yet.

It's always a balance between a coils with good load capacity and a coil with a soft flexible ride.
