Haven't yet, I have until end of October for the rebate. Discount tires direct, shipping is free.

Bamma: while that's a decent price, I don't care to be restricted to ship to an installer of their choice. I can just have my buddy do it. Just don't like to call in the favor if I don't have to.

Still searching for a trustworthy guy to do 4 runner work for me around these parts. But that's another thread

Anyone can be a tirebuyer installer. Just makes it easy to find someone to do it and the price is quoted upfront.

Did not know that. Last time I looked at the options on the site it was giving me a bunch of shady looking places. Limited options. I'll have to look again.

For the other guy asking, I don't have a lift or anything and don't know how big I can go so stock size 265/65/17 passenger rated.

First, I found tires I wanted on eBay at discount tire direct and when I called my local discount to ask about mount/balance price, he offered to order them AND match the eBay "buy it now" price. His reasoning was that if he sold the tire then they could honor warranties and lifetime balance, rotations, blah blah blah. So that's pretty cool.

Second. When I mentioned I wanted the Falken AT3 he stopped me in my tracks and explained that I, in fact, did not want that tire and that they have a lot of problems with them. I told him my intended use as a daily driver with occasional off road adventures and my budget limitations (4 year old twins) and he said the Dynapro ATm was the absolute best value in a tire today - that Hankook quality is outstanding and they recommend it over BFG and Cooper for Tacoma, 4Runner and the like...
My brain says, maybe it's a current promo or something and he's trying to earn points or whatever so I hold off to do some research and find nothing but good reviews. He also told me many of the guys there run them and, like a stalker, I go by there on my way home and sure as $h!t there were 3 or 4 trucks in the employee parking with Dynapros.

We all have preferences or experience, different tastes and budgets... Just wanted to share what I found since I am currently in the tire game.

I think they don't want to spend the money on getting the falkins shipped and want to sell you something that they have in stock. But my questions is if they don't stock the AT3w and it's less then a year old how do they have any experience with it?

Well I thought that too and he had the Falkens in stock, just not in the oddball size I want it he didn't know the size before he shut me down on them. The whole reason I was looking at the Falken is the eBay store listed them at $492 shipped. That's crazy cheap. He said he would match it but really didn't want me to get that tire. He does not have the Hankook I want in stock so ordering it but matching the eBay price... And I have to pay tax either way since discount has brick and mortar stores here.

I think the "experience" is warranty work and returns... He acted like they are all over the place wth build quality and some we not lasting past a few thousand miles. I do about 30k a year so that's a no go for me.

Hai guys noob question here. When you get 5 tires, do you actually rotate the 5th tire in when you do your tire rotations? I'm assuming you're not buying 5 tires each time your 4 run out. Just curious about how you plan the usage. I'm pretty new to the 4x4 online forum scene! But I did have Grabbers on my Nissan Pathfinder which have been amazing.

Yes. You should rotate all five so that say 30k miles into their life, if you have a flat, you can switch the "spare" in that has equal tread wear. That said im cheap and keep a tire as my spare that has a little less than 50% tread life. I do not rotate that into my system so I only rotate the 4.

That said, after this winter, I will be purchasing new tires (bfg at ko2s) and wheels and will begin rotating the fifth into the system.

This is a byproduct of having a V8 (all time 4WD). With uneven tread putting a mismatched spare on will work the Diff gears harder.

I believe this is not really needed for those who have V6.

i agree with others this sounds like sales guy tactics, but i guess yet another look is in order. WTF you guys are killing me :hunter:

Just got them installed, a lot quieter then my old cooper AT3 only problem is they are rubbing really bad on the right side. I have 5100 on the 2nd setting, not sure if I'm going to keep them or not! Any guys running the 265/70 17 KO2 running little or no lift have any rubbing issues?

My K02s rub on full lock in reverse. Pulled the mud flap back a bit and it's all good now.

Sorry no can do I just swapped them for the BFG K02, it was a lot quieter then the at3 they replaced but their was loose feeling going over bumps and taking corners fast, probably due the SL loading rating, the at3s and K02 are both C. No complaints on the KO2 so far, and no rubbing at full lock unlike the at3w.

And I got my Dynapro ATm's today in a 255/75/17. Really great tire, very stable and responsive on the road. Definitely not loud or heavy and they have a really great overall feel. Pretty big difference in sidewall height from the 265/70 Grandtreks. And they did price match the eBay listing at $135 per tire. That's hard to beat!

i finally pulled the trigger and actually bought them :trophy:

decided on a set of (5) of Faulken AT3W - figured why not.

went with 265/70-R17, a little bigger we'll see if they rub

595 shipped to my house on DTD/ebay store

I really like BFG tires... I would pick the KO2 but I am running one of their KM2 mud terrain right now.

Either way I like the 255/75/17 size.

Also just purchased Falken AT3W's, ordered 275-70-18. Went with the LT version as I go off-roading quite a bit here in Colorado, wheels will be here tomorrow and will probably get them installed sometime next week (I'll be moving this weekend)

$630 delivered to my place from ebay DTD store.
