The new floormats SUCK! The 2010 Sequoia i got came with the ammended floormats....might as well not have any. Constantly cleaning the carpets. Picked up some weathertech mats...those sucked too cuz they had to mirror the new mats...catch-all's work well.

I just saw this in the paper. 4th generation re-call.

All they did on some cars was cut down the front of the gas pedal. Depends on if you have the Denso gas pedal or not. That's right, only the Japanese pedal was ok, the ones they used in American-made cars was the one having electrical issues. I'm not doing the recall. I'm not afraid of it catching the mat.

I too would like to know just what Toyota is replacing. Are they replacing the gas pedal or the floor mat(s)? If it's just the floor mats, screw it, I run Husky Liners and to date have had no issues with them. I think Toyota is being overly careful now.

At the present time, Toyota is developing a remedy for this safety recall.

What is the Condition?
The defect is the potential for an unsecured or incompatible driver's floor mat to interfere with the accelerator pedal and cause it to get stuck in the wide open position. A stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death. Toyota has determined that this defect does not exist in vehicles in which the driver side floor mat is compatible with the vehicle and properly secured.

When will the Remedy be Available:
Toyota anticipates that the remedy will be available by early April, 2011. At which time, Toyota will notify owners of covered vehicles by first class mail. Additional information will be posted on this site once the remedy is available.

If you have recently completed any of these campaigns at an authorized Toyota Dealership, please disregard the notification above.

I have the rubber industrial Toyota brand mats and the way they fit I can't see how they would ever get in the way of the peddle...no recall for me:boxer:

The funny thing is my car came with cheap after market floor mats and for Christmas my Wife got me a set of Toyota floor mats. I guess I will be part of the re-call.

I have the all weather Toyota floormats that I got when I purchased my 4Runner 6+ years ago. It was part of the deal when I bought my 4Runner.
Since then, these mats have always stayed in place. In fact when I want to remove them to clean them (once/twice a year) they can be a Royal PITA to unhook & remove. The anchors that came with these mats most definitely do their job.

I would imagine that there are some people that do not have their Toyota mats installed properly or have aftermarket mats that are not anchored is what this recall is all about. I agree with another poster above that Toyota will have to pry my mats from my cold dead hands as well. For me they stay in place and catch all the stones, dirt, etc. that they were designed to deal with and have held up well.

Have to wonder if any Toyota owners have put crappy, old, aftermarket mats in their vehicles just before taking their Toyota in for this type of recall and had them replaced? Hmmmmmm....... :wink2:
