Took a pic next to a mostly stock looking 4Runner, next to me at costco, to compare....and make me feel cool. Oh, by the way........Sam's Club > Costco.

Finally put in the B&M 70264 tranny cooler.
and painted the fender flares and bumper step cover thing, using my high end paint booth
annnnnd reinstalled
Also installed the toytec diff drop and forgot to take pics.
Painted the rear spoiler thing.
and tinted the 3rd brake light. Note: in order for the spray tint to stick to the 3rd brake light, you need to spray on a clear coat first. The tint spray has some type of reaction w/ the plastic and starts to crack. I figured this out after retinting it like 5 times. fun stuff! Here it is with just the clear coat on it.

Nice work so far. Just curious why you didn't swap the rear bumper trim over to the new one? Would have been one less thing you needed to paint. Also, what paint did you use for your fender flares?

Thanks! I was going to swap the new bumper trim over, but on the old one, I broke a few tabs pulling it off and after finding out how easy it is to pull it off now, I figured I'd just leave it and hope that will make the old 4Runner sell faster. Only took a couple hours to get it off/clean it/paint it.
For the fender flares, I used satin black krylon fusion. I think I did 3 coats and 2 coats of satin clear.

I just used the regular spray paint cans it came in and sat them in a cup of warm water for 5 minutes before I used em to heat up the paint a bit

thanks, I just used some $15 ebay yellow bulbs, but it wasnt yellow enough so I got yellow lamin-x film stuff also on ebay. I think it was only like 5 bucks

Not too much of an update but....

And since I added the clear turn signals, I needed to make it still blink amber and LEDs didn't work. I guess I need a relay? Instead I painted my stock bulbs "pumpkin orange"...walmart didn't have amber. It's bright as hell and looks kinda cool. Didn't expect it to be so damn orange!

Ok, went offroad and through mud for the first time in THIS 4Runner and used 4WD for the 1st time. It was awesome. Visited my Grandpa for his 82nd birthday past Sacramento. I saw Prairie city offroad place and HAD to stop by. Soooooo much fun, and the 4Runner made it up everything I tried a lot easier than expected. Using the 4WD is like night and day. I went through this mud puddle back and forth about 5 times. Drove around a little more and stopped to take a few pics and shut the motor off. I went back in after taking pics, and it wouldn't start! Just a click. Called T4R4life and he was trying to help me and explain things to check but still couldn't get it started. I ended up getting pulled by this sick 1st gen and got to a wash area and sprayed all the mud out of the engine bay. It was 1-2 inches cakeed on EVERYWHERE. Some guys there were trying to help me get it started by wacking at the starter but it wasnt happening. We ended up getting towed to the nearest toyota dealer. Had to leave it there over night and left a note. They diagnosed it the next day and found it being the starter needed replacing. They wanted $700 total, wtf! So I bought a starter for autozone for $90 and brought it up there. My brother, Dad, and I were gonna replace it in the parking lot but toyota wouldn't let us, and it was raining and we didn't want to pay for towing, so toyota installed it for me for $250 and waived the $125 diagnosis charge. Not horrible, but could have definitely been better. Lost my wallet up there, missed work and was stuck just waiting for 6 hours too. It was a crazy day, but could have definitely been worse. Glad to have the 4Runner back and no worries. Here's some pics:

Glad your starter is fixed....it was probably the mud and water that killed it. Or maybe not. Just another reason to hate mud.

x2! The same thing happened to my friend in his FJ when we went to prairie city. Went through a pit that was a lot deeper though..got stuck everytime he tried it. he says he conquered it in sections haha.

Last time i went mudding, my alternator went out on my. made it about 30 miles on my optima hauling down the interstate trying to get to a parts store. Ended up dying 3 miles from the exit i needed for an oreillys. Had to change it on the side of interstate. Now i keep a spare alternator in the truck just in case lol.

Thanks, yea I never understood why people hate mud so much, even have the forum ih8mud. But now, I completely understand haha
haha nice I saw a huge pit and it looked like mostly water no too much mud, but it was wayyyy deep. I didnt see that spot on the video, I guess I only went to one side of the park

thanks! And yea the whole engine bay was completely covered. I wish I took a pic but I was goin crazy haha
Dammn that sucks. something like that would happen to me though forsure, always safe to have backup parts; that's what I gotta do haha

oh, by the way, i forgot to put the lid on my deck plate too
i got lucky though and the filter was the ONLY place in the engine bay where there was no mud...whew..
