DRL Disable but keep Auto Headlights

Best mod ever. Got my switchback leds installed as my DRLs, Leds from Xenondepot for lows, highs, and fogs. No more led highs on full power at Auto.

Make sure you get the HP24 410 lumens, and a pair of led resistors to prevent hyper flashing

I would like to keep the DRL but have the ability to turn them off when I don't want them on. Having a switch inline with that pin on the relay would be ideal.

So install a switch, that's not a big deal. Cut the wire under the fuse panel, solder 2 lengths of wire, one on each end, run them both through the firewall to a switch, done. Not a bad idea.

Has anyone figured out what's being fed to the relay pin 2 that everyone is disabling? Is it ground, 12V, or something else?
I just ordered the OEM Southeastern Toyota LED fog/DRLs, and would like them to function just like the factory DRLs, without having to add the switch on the dash. I have the Limited with the auto-lamp, so I already have the cancel switch on the stalk. If I can find the 12V or ground that feeds the DRL system, I should be able to accomplish that.

Been reading a lot of your lighting posts and stuff...cant thank you enough for all of the input and help with a lot of these mods. We seem to have same taste in things we want done with our lighting so you have been a huge help! :rockon:

Well, I got this part figured out and I thought I'd post my solution here if anyone wants to do the same, after doing the DRL headlight disable mod. Useful, if your changing to non-dimmable LED high beams, and still want your DRL compatible fog lights to operate in DRL mode. Another nice feature with this solution, is the DRL fogs retain the original time delay off function when the vehicle is turned off.
My fog lights have two wires (I assume all DRL compatable fog lights would), one that plugs into the factory fog light harness for normal operation, and one wire that was tapped into the high beam bulb connector green/black wire. I removed this wire from the headlight connector. Then I located a power source that had the same voltage that is controlled by the key on/off. There is a power distribution block just behind the fuse panel box.
The red/black wire, 2nd from the left, is the one you want to tap into. This wire is controlled by the key, and when you turn off the vehicle the wire holds power for about 60 seconds and then turns off.
DRL fogs and marker lights on. (My cell phone camera makes fogs look brighter then they are.)
Where are these connectors located? I am also wanting to run fogs as DRLs. Seems like its much easier to do than [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION]'s (love that dude and all of his write-ups!) version of independent fog lights...amma right??

So I have also been curious on how to cut out the DRL function without affecting any other functions and the fuse solution that bends the pin seems to be the best option but that insane price for a replacement has kept me from pulling the trigger. I did some research and discovered that the 4Runner fuse shares it size with a few other Toyotas. The only difference I can find is highlighted in the picture. I bought the 2016 Sienna fuse for $20+ $7 shipping off eBay. All I need to do is grind one rib off and it should slide right in. I'll report back later today with how it works out.

Success! The 2016 Toyota Sienna DRL fuse works perfectly! I did have to shave off one of the guide ribs but a utility knife made easy work of it. All other functionality works as it should, just no DRLs.

Just did this on my Limited. In AUTO, it does not turn on the marker lights, which I was hoping it would since I recently did the marker LEDs on the grill.
However, while in AUTO, the low beams and markers do come on when the conditions dictate it. At least I no longer have those annoying LED high beams during the day.

I do not use the Auto function on the headlight stalk. I use the DRL position and the on position. Not a fan of auto lights!

Seems like it is a little different on the 2017 Limited as I have the following switch positions:
- Headlights On
- Tail/Marker Lights On
- Auto (DRL/Low Beam)
- DRL Off - All lights off
- Headlights On
- Tail/Marker Lights On
- Auto (DRL/Low Beam)
- DRL Off - All lights off
