What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Replaced worn Cooper STT Pro tires with BFG KO2's in LT285/70/17 E1. The Coopers when worn turned horribly loud like any mud tire really. So these KO2's feel like the 4Runner is running on silent, pillowy clouds. They also don't rub at full lock in reverse like I did with the STT Pro's even with the body mount chop. But the STT Pro's are very aggressive and a true 33" tire.

How much lift is this? Looks slick!

Took the ferry across Lake Powell at Halls Crossing. If you get a chance its a nice ride and cuts some time off of the more scenic route to the north.

Finally picked this up yesterday, I've been waiting since August for this to come in! I was going to buy a 19' in Voodoo blue but the 20' came with much better stuff on the inside so I decided to wait it out. I put a refundable deposit down on it a while back to make sure I had first dibs.

I immediately went to some trails a few km away from home. I love it, but damn Toyota, why can't you put good bulbs in at this price point? The LED fog lights are brighter than the headlights! I have the same complaints about the interior lights, my trade in (15’ GMC Sierra) had way better lighting than this thing.

Today I will take it grocery shopping then go explore some more trials before the snow gets too deep.

Too funny...I said the exact same thing when I got rid of my 15 Silverado. It had standard LED lights on the inside. Replaced all the interior & exterior with XenonDepot LEDs all around on the 4Runner. (I just sold my 18 4Runner, but still stalk the forums...Haha)

Did a couple drain and fills on the transmission with Toyota WS. Got about 3.5 quarts out cold each time. Used the Torque app and the custom PID for the pan temp, was quite simple. I'll drop the pan soon and replace the strainer and clean the magnets when I have time. Looks easy no FIPG scraping just a regular gasket yay.

BTW Menards has the best darn bottle pumps I've ever found, for $5.99. Fits on both size bottles, smooth and fast, and stays in one peice. I barely get one diff fill out of the Autozone/Oreily ones before they fall apart. I love Menards.

If it makes you feel any better the original headlight bulbs on my 3rd gen still work great after 20 years.

Check the light output in lumens and watts on the original bulbs. Then compare with the replacement choices. You could end up with white lights that are not any brighter if you don't check the numbers. I also added led backup lights that are way brighter.

My spare tire lift chain snuck through the hub and was dangling and rattling over bumps. So I cut a six inch piece of foam water pipe insulation, wrapped the chain, and stuffed it up into the hub. It’s all quiet now.

I don't recommend drop-in LED bulbs, as the chips-on-blade construction won't replicate a halogen filament properly. They seem bright but their "throw" is reduced due to poor focus. I had Morimoto 2stroke bulbs and have switched back to halogen. The H9 upgrade is cheap and the best bang for the buck.

Hey, thanks for this link. That guy on tacomaworld is an amazing wealth of information. I hope everyone reads his posts and understands why LED replacements in halogen headlight housings do not work properly and never will. As you said, the halogen H9 upgrade for low beams is a great bang for the buck. I also did the high beam 9011 conversion. I’m very pleased with the results.

Never thought I'd be camping at 9200 feet in November. It was cold but not nearly as bad as I was expecting.

On a side note, I need 4runner camping friends because even though I pack heat and bring my 2 dogs, it still gets creepy in the dark lol
