2014 Limited Dash Speaker Wiring
My 2014 LE has this exact setup. I want to install the JBL GX302s but I wasn't sure which wires were + and which were -. Has anyone found a harness that fits this connector?

My 2019 TRDP has the same setup with the two wire harness for the JBL setup. I didn't find a harness that fits it while installing the Hertz 87.3 speakers but was able to utilize the Metra 72-8104 harness depinned. Once I got the pins out of the Metra connector, I stuck the pins in the stock harness and secured with electrical tape. Cheap $6 solution and no cutting of stock harnesses.

I have a 2015 Limited with JBL and ordered a GX302 3 1/2” Coaxial speaker and just received a GX328 instead. I’m not sure if this was a mistake or if it’s compatible. Does anyone know?
Only reason I’m even replacing is the tweeters were scratching / crackling at higher volume and during phone calls.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you install these yet? Wondering how you like them. Just installed mine and they sound flat and quiet compared to my factory JBL tweeters...

The gx302s were not much of an improvement to warrant the hassle. The tweeter sounded fine while parked in the garage but road noise cancelled out any type of perceived improvements over stock. I also felt like the mid-range was significantly diminished compared to the stock JBLs. For that matter the 4 or 5 sets I tried were the same with regards to mid range. If I could pair the the tweeters of the Hertz units with the mid-range of the stock JBLs, I'd be 100% satisfied.
Being quarantined at home has given me a bit of extra time, so between printing masks I was also able to design and prototype some dash speaker mounts from the ground up. The very first set I made fit up pretty well and would have been perfectly usable, but I decided to perfect the design and I think I'm pretty much done. I used PETG to make these and performed a bit of "destructive testing on the first set I made - they are really much stronger than they need to be. Here are a couple photos, but I'll post more pics once I get them mounted up:

Being quarantined at home has given me a bit of extra time, so between printing masks I was also able to design and prototype some dash speaker mounts from the ground up. The very first set I made fit up pretty well and would have been perfectly usable, but I decided to perfect the design and I think I'm pretty much done. I used PETG to make these and performed a bit of "destructive testing on the first set I made - they are really much stronger than they need to be. Here are a couple photos, but I'll post more pics once I get them mounted up:
I recently changed out the dash speakers on my 2019 Limited and managed to fit some fairly nice 4" full range speakers (Faital 4fe32 4Ohm) with only modifying the steel brackets. Just an option for those out there looking.
You can also fit Faital's 3fe22 (4 Ohm) as a drop in. Both speakers have excellent off-axis response.

Careful if you decide to help out other forum members. Wouldn't want to see another talented designer kicked off the forum because they didn't pay the "dealer fee".

If KP Texan's solution isn't available or compatible with the Hertz 87.3, Home Depot L-braces worked for my install. I didn't want to modify the stock brackets in case I needed to revert back. I basically cut off the L on one brace and used the remaining two pre-drilled and counter sunk metal pieces as a mount point to the speaker and dash. There's a little bit of alignment work needed but it all lined up and is secure with the proper clearances. The pictures will show one went under and the other went over but it all mounted up perfectly even on the passenger side with air duct challenges and all.

Wow, did that really happen? Not even sure I would attempt to sell them at this point since I don't think it would be too lucrative, and speaker installation like this is tricky due to the huge variations in speaker dimensions. I'd hate to sell a set to someone and then it not work with their particular speaker. I'm entertaining the idea of just sticking the STL up on Thingiverse anyway.
Thanks! Looks like the Hertz has an 81mm cutout diameter which is slightly larger than the 76.5mm cutout diameter of the Infinitys I designed them around. Would be a very easy design change though.
Might be difficult right now with the quarantine, but lots of local libraries do 3D printing so that could be an option too (would just want it to be in PETG or ABS due to the heat in a vehicle).

I hear ya. I’d honestly get more enjoyment out of seeing people use my design in their installs than I would by trying to get money from selling them.
Edit: I just read through that whole "TRD Pro Side Mirror Swap/Upgrade" which I assume had Oldred's last posts. What a complete disservice to the members of the forum.

Finally got around to bolting up my custom dash speaker mounts and everything went fine (with the exception of having to swap one of the stock sheet metal fasteners with a #10x1" sheet metal screw). I've got more details in my stereo build thread, but the upgrade on the dash speakers is completely worth it! Did not realize how muddy the stock speakers were until I did this, and the clarity is now much, much better.
