Blue Sea fuse block in cabin

Working on my dual battery system and want to run a hot line into the cabin to a bluesea fuse block. I'm looking for a good spot in the cabin to mount the fuse block. I've been searching but haven't found any ideas. I was considering the glovebox, since it's out of the way, but accessible. But it might not be the most practical. I also saw the passenger side kick panel on the Fjs. Has anyone here run a line to the cabin and where did you put the fuse block?

Rear wheel well compartment. Depending on what you are trying to run.. but that is where I have all my house battery outlets....
 
Yeah, thought about that, but will only have my fridge there and probably two 12v outlets. I'll probably have outlets up front, USB plugs, maybe a HAM. Not sure if it'd make sense to run wires to the back and then back up front.
 
I run a 4awg back to the rear wheel well area. Fuse block is inside a small pelican case Velcro'd to the floor. Ground goes out via where a factory tie down is to the frame.. can post pics if interested.

[MENTION=88593]ViperNL[/MENTION] What radio are you looking at running? Depending on the rig, might need to consider what else is on the circuit for interference reasons? Have you put any thought into this / researched?
 
Here's my setup. May not be the sexiest but I find it damn functional. I like being able to put gear on top of the pelican case if necessary and not worry about wiring getting damaged. Also keeps fuses easily accessible, and is right next to the tailgate for when I run roof lights. My house battery is on the passenger side so I run an 4 gauge through the firewall then down along the cab under the plastic door sills. There are calculators available online for estimating voltage drop for given lengths of wire, I'd recommend using that along with your intended accessory draw to determine the best gauge wiring for your setup.

I ended up putting mine on the passenger kick panel. Cheap to replace if I'd rip it out. Semi-hidden, but accessible. Just gotta make sure the wife doesn't punt it.

That's pretty neat as well. I ended up using bud built's plate to put the secondary battery right up front by the intake. It fits a group 24 marine battery, rated at 79 Ah.
 
Does anyone one know if there is a ready made steel or aluminum universal mounting plate for the 6 or 12 fuse blue sea panel? I see a number of folks mount it in the jack storage location in the trunk and thought of doing the same. Do ya'll just fab a metal plate or is there someone out there selling it cut to size for the blue sea panels?

I had some left over 1/8" aluminum plate, and that worked out fine, very easy to make. I guess you could use metal, just coat it with something so it doesn't rust.
 
The panels come in lots of different sizes but they all attach the same way: four small nuts/bolts at the corners. Not sure what kind of custom panel you're looking for but it's easy af to mount them on almost any panel. You can even use 3M VHB tape and mount it on the back of a plastic panel if you don't want to drill holes. I'm just having a hard time picturing how an additional mounting panel will help inside the cabin.

For the sake of contributing to the three year old thread, I have a six circuit Bluesea mounted on the passenger kick panel like the OP. I ran 2x 4ga cables from the battery through the firewall to the fuse box. 150 amp Bluesea breaker at the battery end.

Thanks! I was thinking along similar lines but would have to source the plate and then cut holes for it to line up. Was wondering if someone just made something out there like the so many other accessory mounting plates available for the 5th gen..

Thanks! I was looking for either just a cut to size pre drilled plate or something more elaborate like a larger setup which had the size to mount the fuse panel along with a circuit breaker etc..I plan on removing the bottle jack and everything else out there so could use with some imagination on how to utilize the freed up space. Wfo9 mounted a small battery in there :)..
 
Gotcha. Problem with that is the circuit breaker needs to be as close to the battery as possible for it to protect the run from the fuse box to the battery. They fuse box itself already exists to protect everything you're going to feed from it.

Thanks for this. I had almost decided on mounting the breaker in the engine bay but was hesitating to see if I could do it in the back so that I can shut the rear power supply off if I'm in the back without having to go through the hood.
Any tips on how to mount an MPPT to it? I'm deliberating between mounting it there in the back and running it from the wires I will send back, or mounting it under the passenger seat but that option would entail additional set of wiring.
 
Your more than welcome to go to my album pages and see photos of some of my added outlets and dual battery install for ideas. albeit my rig is a 2011 with lots of space under the hood. but I did place a aux. fuse PNL in the rear PS fender well. for future accessories .

You could go to any local faab shop and they probably have pcs. sitting around for damn near nothing. Make a template, cut it out with a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade. Be sure to go half speed or the aluminum will melt on the blade..

If you can't do it...pm me, send me a template and I'll cut it out for you....send it back.
