05 4Runner head unit replacement

Just bought an 05 and the first thing I did was pull out the original head unit and speakers and replaced them. Everything went fine, except...

The original unit has two antenna leads - one is smaller than normal. The new head unit can only take one, so I plugged in the one that fit. Now I get crappy reception on the radio. It seems that this is an amplified antenna system??? How can I incorporate this on my Pioneer head unit?

you need a Y splitter

and adapter then plug this into the antenna jack on the aftermarket HU.Here are links to the parts.

Yep get the adapter and the splitter and you'll be fine

05 Stereo Heat Unit Issue

Actually, the problem with my new head unit had to do with the fact that I didn't realize I had to connect the power antenna wire. Apparently, 05 4Runner's have an antenna amplifier!
