06 Sport...OME 884/5100 and SAW 2"/5100 installed

So I went in for an aligment a few days ago and the truck is now tracking straight and the tires arent as loud as before. I assume due to a lot less camber. The caster is WAY off but what do you expect with stock UCAs and ~4" lift. I will post before and after alignment specs when I get home later.

Also, the same inboard CV is spitting more grease. Still nothing crazy, but its a steady leak whenever I travel at highway speeds. I will attempt to reclamp as soon as I get the clips.

I installed the Toytec Diff Drop and it somehow made my inboard boots worse. Im not sure how this is even possible but the middle two fins are mashed together on the bottom now. Before the drop, I could see a bit of daylight b/w them. I will upload pics of this as well.

CrimsonCountry,

I notice that you are also using handkook dynapro ATM, do you notice any loose traction when cornering even when it's only a minor drizzle. I use the same tire (265/65/17) and it drives me knots :dammit: when it happens, specially when I'm with the family.

I'm on the process of looking for a new set of tires and try to get 265/70/17 (for extra 1 inch from the existing tires). The price of the handkook tire is hard to beat, since it every much affordable.

Thanks

I'm happy to say that I haven't noticed anything like what you have mentioned. Granted I dont take corners extremely fast or anthing (I see you mentioned your faimly riding with you so I'm sure you don't either), but I have yet to feel them slip during normal, wet driving conditions....and I have driven some pretty curvy roads down here in AL and TN.

Are you sure that the slipping was in fact the tire or could it have been due to only a light, fresh coating of water on the road which, when mixed with all the road grime, rubber, etc would make any tire slip??

Overall, I think they are a great tire. They look good, handle well for an AT, and are priced reasonably. I'm actually considering them again when/if I upsize my tires after this set wears out.

The tires works like a champ in dry road and driving straight when raining :surfer:. The corner turns only gets me when to road is wet (even turning @ a normal speed).

Hmmm...that does seem odd. Perhaps I just haven't been in the exact same driving conditions, but, like I said, I haven't noticed anything similar. At least anything outside what one would typically expect of an AT tire vs highway tire.

As promised, here are the specs after my first alignment. They aren't anywhere near great but they will do for now:

Also, here are my cv angles after the diff drop. Its hard to tell from these pictures but my inboard boards are rubbing worse after the install. I may just take it back off. Keep in mind, these angles are with 4"+ lift, which I am hoping will settle.

Did yours ever settle a bit? I'm considering the same setup for the front. I'm hoping yours settled some, that and with my 4runner having the v8 I should net around 3" in the front.

I actually just measured again yesterday and it hasn't settled...ANY. The odd thing is that I've already put 3k miles on it since the lift too. I was really hoping it would settle down to around 23" Hub to fender but i'm still at 23.75".

Every other person I have talked to that has ran this exact setup at the .85" notch, is nowhere near this high. Something just doesn't add up...its almost like these are 885s or something. Ha. Plus with the V8, you should definitely be in the safe zone...at least a lot safer than me. Were you going to run the 884s at the same setting as well?

Just considering it as an option right now. Probably going to move the 5100's up to the top notch and try that first. I love the way the current setup rides, just way too much nose dive, hoping stiffer coils will take care of that. I'm at stock weight and have no plans for that to change, so I'll probably do 884's with the 5100's on second notch.

I have almost zero nose dive with mine. It corners well (in regards to reduced body roll) and the wider offset wheels and 285s really helped to add more stability after the lift as well. It rides a lot stiffer than the XREAS...probably too stiff for some.

Since you have the V8, id consider the 885's. I though they would be very firm but they ride similar to the OEM coils. I have them with a toytec spacer and 5100's at normal ride height. Right after the lift was installed, i was at 23.5" hub to fender at all 4 corners, right around 3.5" of lift in the front and 2.25" in the rear. It hasnt settled much after a week and ~250 miles but probably down to 23" or 23.25" in the front.

I love the 5100's and the OME/superflex coils! It rides and handles very similar to XREAS bit a tad stiffer, more truck like. Good luck!

Casper that's the exact setup I was looking at, just wasnt sure which ome could were best. I remember reading now that 885s are suggested for the v8. Which spacer did you use? Thanks for the info.

I'm so jealous you got 3.5"...that's exactly what I wanted. Ha. I still cant believe mine hasn't settled at all after 3k miles. Of course, Also jealous of your 33" tires too:p. I'm about to say screw it and just buy the Toytec Adj CO kit if they have them on sale anytime soon. That's what I should have done in the first place.

I agree with Casper. Although, as I mentioned above, I wish I would have just went ahead and bought the Toytec Coilovers...or just the kit if you already have the 5100s. Like most people, I was just trying to save a few bucks and "waste" as little money as possible on my hobby, but buying it the first time would've been cheaper anyway now that I still want it.

Slow down just a bit. Maybe try the Toytec top plate spacer with the 5100's at stock ride height and see if it gives you 3.5", it should. The ride should be a little softer but still truck like. I understand the reasoning for the adj. coilovers but if you can fix it for cheap, try it.

If i had the money, id get the OW 2.0 kit but thats me. Good luck dude!!

Thanks Casper! Ha. Nah man, the next time I spend any more money on the front it will be adjustable. I would want to wait for a sale on the kit though and I would be selling my 884s anyway so the out of pocket cost wouldn't be that bad. I'd rather spend the ~$300 (effectively) on the kit than the $75 on the spacer. Then, ill be going back to the 17s and some 285/70/17. :bigok:

FYI...the OW coilovers would be my choice as well. However, the only way I see myself getting some "real" (ie rebuildable) coilovers is if I found a good deal on a used set. Otherwise, the 5100 adj kit should fit my needs perfectly.
