I took my 4Runner in the other day to have some things checked out before my CPO warranty expire in the next week. The things being checked out:
1) Seat track problem (they are telling me nothing can be done, but I printed out the TSB for them)
2) Moon roof is creaking/cracking/popping. They said they greased it up and it's ok now.
3) I could never get the plastic engine cover off since I first attempted to a few months after the purchase. The two bolts just spin freely. The adviser called me and said the bolts were seized, the tech was able to remove the cover and advises just to leave it off.
The tech said the engine cover is not important, and to get it working again means that they would have to replace the air intake and air filter assembly (or some-such). The serv. adviser said Toyota wont cover this under my CPO warranty. I think that's BS.
I'm not exactly sure (I mean, I know what the brochure says they inspect) what is inspected during the CPO process, but there has got to be something they check to certify the vehicle that requires removing the engine cover and looking at the engine.
Am I crazy, or does this sound like something that should be covered?
