Hey, where could I get that alarm upgrade for my 2003 4Runner? For around $140

Google search for Toyota RS3200+ security alarms. Your search will yield some promising results. Good luck! It will take you approximately 2-3 hours to install the thingy in your driveway. Be sure to purchase the RS3200+ alarm system with the glass breakage microphone. You can test the glass breakage mic by arming your truck, waiting 35 seconds and then tapping on a wine glass with a spoon. You can then adjust the sensitivity by how hard you have to tap the glass. DO NOT TAP ON YOUR TRUCK'S WINDOW WITH YOUR VEHICLE'S KEYS as some of the earlier models suggest. The 03-05 models side window are thinner than the 06's and it will crack easily.

I bought mine off of Ebay from someone who had connections I guess.

Dayum! I see what you mean about the prices. I'm looking on Ebay right now and see them ranging from $225-$300. My thinking is because this alarm fits a good many of Toyota's vehicles made from 1999- present. Keep looking as sometimes small distributor's run specials on ebay to lure business. Good Luck!

Hello gentlemen, and ladies.

I'm really considering getting the rs3200 for my 04. It has keyless entry already and the immobilizer, and I'm kinda fighting on whether I really need an alarm, especially one without a shock sensor, but I figure something is better than nothing...plus I like that it keeps the truck OEM. I found it for 230.00 online and figure thats as good as I'm going to get unless I wait for someone to post one on ebay. But, I'm worried about the install. I called the dealer and asked them how much they would charge for alarm and install they said 600 bucks. Heeeelllllls no. But, how hard is it to install...frorunner appears he didn't have much trouble and I read another post saying it wasn't too bad, but how much technical experience do you need to be able to attempt it yourself and do a GOOD job? I like to take apart and build computers, and I like to work with my hands and make SIMPLE furniture like piano benches... but my car knowledge goes as far as changing the oil and a tire. Is this job too much?

Alright...well... as impatient as I am, I just picked one up from partznet. If anyone is interested next weekend when I install it, I can do a write up. Or I can entertain you all about how I pushed my 4runner to the dealer with all the dislodged panels and wires in the trunk as I beg in tears for them to revive my ride.


But seriously... I hope that doesn't happen. haha.
