14,700 for an 04 Sport V8 4x4 a good price?

I have found an 04 Sport V8 4x4 at a local Toyota dealer. They are asking 16,900 for it. It's got 87k miles on it. They really wanted to sell it to me bad, but I couldn't decide on the price. They came all the way down to 14,700 plus tax which includes replacing the timing belt.

I am not sure that is a good price or not.

Opinions?

Doesn't seem that bad especially considering it's coming from a dealer. In my neck of the woods, there are two which are about the same:

First one is 2004 w/ 80,000 miles and looks like the same specs you have for $15000. The second 2004 is at 45,000 miles and they're asking $16,500.

I bet you could go lower, especially if you can wait until the 27th or 28th to get it because its the last days of selling for the month. I bought my 03 Limited V8 4WD with 80k at the end of August for 14k, 15k after T,T&L. Tell them you'll buy it right now if you can get it for 13.5, I bet they'll take it.

also make sure they do the water pump too.

Yes, I was wondering if the water pump should be replaced with the timing belt like it does on the 3.4.

I think one of the reasons they were so eager to sell was because they hadn't sold a single car all day.

That's not too bad, but I'd probably hold out and look a little longer. I picked up an 04 SR5 V8 4x4 with about 61K for under $13K out the door. Of course mine didn't include timing belt replacement though.

It's dependent on your local market as well obviously.

Yes, each market is a little different. I am noticing in my search that the northern vehicles are cheaper then what they are here in Tennessee.

I have decided to keep looking. I just don't want to get one with that many miles to start, but I am limited in my budget, so I will see what happens. I have found an 03 SR5 V6 4x4 with only 49k miles for 13,900, but it spent it's first two years in Connecticut, then two years in Florida.

Not sure if the Connecticut weather would be hard on it or not.

SR5's go for A LOT less than SE and LTD models...it's a little weird i think
