'14 Eco guage question

Just took delivery of my '14 TE... Traded in my '13 TE.... Was hesitant at first but without a doubt the '14 is nicer. Many improvements that needed done were i think. My question is if anyone knows if you can turn off the annoying eco guage. Not the light, but the guage in the center. I like that my speed is lit up but unfortunately to display the speedometer you have the eco guage there. It drives me crazy! I want to see my speed but could care less about eco! If i wanted eco i woulda bought a Prius! Thanks

Are you talking about the light turning on? (I can't remember how we did it on the '14's I only did one so far for PDI and we haven't had any come in for service yet) Toyota has started having Eco-Mode as a semi-standard function on their vehicles (annoyingly). What I mean by that is a lot of cars now turn on the "Eco" lamp when coasting, cruising gently, and/or when "Eco-Mode" kicks in with no real option to turn it off as it "turns off by itself when you need power" (which is a cop out in my honest opinion.) So you have to deal with this stupid green light blinking at you every now and then....

No, the green eco light is easy to turn off, that's not the problem.

In '14 4Runners there is a multifunction display in between the tach and the speedometer. It has several modes but in the useful ones it shows you an "eco-meter" which is a wobbly horizontal bar graph that effectively tries to train you not to press on the gas pedal. It's annoying.

I haven't found a way to switch it off yet. You *can* get rid of it by switching the display modes, but the useful mode shows you your speed digitally and it does have the "eco-meter".

I turned the green eco light off pretty easily... What im talking about is the eco gauge in the message center in center of dash. It has a few different display modes with one of them showing your speed. Problem is that if you choose the mode that displays speed it also has an eco gauge that shows real time eco status. Im trying to figure out if i can just have speed displayed in the message center. I will try to post a pic of what im talking about. Thanks for the help

In the message center go to settings, scroll down to eco light, select off. Only turns off green eco light.... Annoying eco bar still there tho

on the MFD, the only way your going to get rid of the eco bar is to reprogram that display setting within the ecu for that display to remove it.

now if it was a true user modifiable display like some of the new lcd gauge clusters, I could see you removing that option, but since the 4runner is not that type of display I don't see how.

Well actually I was aware that he's talking about the LCD screen, and it was kind of a joke

Landcruiser on the other hand probably didn't have his morning coffee yet, lol.

I was able to completely disable the eco gauge (not green eco light) with a toyota techstream. The setting is under the other custom settings, cant remember exactly where.

the eco green thing doesnt bother me that much, my only worry is i might get into an accident because i keep looking at it while driving to see if I'm within the eco range of saving fuel so I suppose, there is a safety need for turning this green thing off.
