15 amp Dome fuse keeps frying!

In case anyone looks at this with the same problem, mine seems to be that the main plug under the dash was loose. Suddenly I have dome lights and power locks again, ill take it.

I solved the 15amp fuse blow problem

So, yes.... after 5 months I could resolve this annoying problem. :redbrick:

My main mistake was a wrong cross battery jump cable, after that this 15amp blue fuse didn't stop blowing.

So, it's took me time and some fuses, but IN MY CASE the short was on the ANTENNA RELAY. it's just fries inside by the wrong jump, it smelled like melted plastic. :reddance:

This relay is inside de dash board, just under de stereo. I hope this post can help someone. I post some pics to show it.

Same problem, mine went away after removing the Antenna relay. Now need to get another one or find a way to reset it.

I bought a 98 4R last week. Power door locks, dome lights, map lights, door chime, clock, power antenna, all inoperable. Previous owner just dealt with it for years. Says it happened when connecting battery backwards.


I check 15a fuse and it’s entirely missing. Install a fuse, pops. Went straight for the antenna relay, which you can reach from just above the gas pedal without removing anything. Pull it out and smells like electrical smoke. New fuse and door chime starts blaring, lights come on, door locks working again.

Same for me

Decided to use spare battery that was the proper size (but with the + and - reversed).

Blew my 15A, unplugged Ant relay and I'm good to go
