180 or 270 degree awning

Anyone have a 180 or 270 degree awning mounted? Would like the pros and cons you have found.

Only 270 pics I have seen on 4Runner are 23zero stock pics. I haven’t seen any in the wild.

As you mentioned I want to know about rear hatch rubbing when open, especially with a ladder mounted.

I have a Overland Vehicle Systems 180 degree sitting in my garage waiting on my Gobi rack to be done in a few weeks. Everything I saw about the 270 degree awnings was that they had to be mounted pretty high to avoid the hatch, especially with a ladder. For me I was trying to avoid that so I went 180. We'll see how it works out. I'll post picks when I get everything mounted.

Yup. It definitely needs to be mounted REALLY high. I have a 270 degree awning and the only thing I don't like about it is I'm unable to fully open my hatch. I have a gobi ladder and mount the awning normally on my gobi rack.

Yup. It definitely needs to be mounted REALLY high. I have a 270 degree awning and the only thing I don't like about it is I'm unable to fully open my hatch. I have a gobi ladder and mount the awning normally on my gobi rack.

Do you mind posting a picture of how you set up your mount? I am hoping to get the awning flush with the top of the rack but I'm not sure that's possible.

Its just mounted with the usual "L" brackets. I went through the mesh floor on my Gobi. Don't have any specific mounting pics but here are pics of the height mounted "normally" but its pretty self explanitory. Last pic you can see my "L" brackets in place without the awning mounted. You'd have to mount it real high in order to be able to fully open the hatch. High as in mounted to the side of a hard shell rtt that's already on top of a rack.

Thanks alot for posting those. That's very helpful. I'm hoping to use the L brackets but mount them upside down to keep the awning as low as possible. Since I have the 180 opening the hatch won't matter. I guess I'll find out for sure soon.
