1993 4runner stereo

I have a 1993 4runner and I just installed an Alpine radio and two Infiniti Kappas in Front hoping that the rear had good speakers. Well got everything hooked up and all I have are front speakers and the rear tweeters. ANY IDEas??? Also the blower in the rear of console for heat I guess doesnt turn on can anyone help me with these issues

First of all you installed front speakers and an alpine radio. I'm not sure but i don't think stock 4runners in 93 had tweeters. Could you explain the problem a little more clearly?

If the rear heater doesn't blow, then check the fuse, switch, and the blower motor.

check the crossovers on the rears, sounds like they are hooked up but just runnin the high freqs. i dont think toyota put separates in the back. if the crossovers are fine, check the wiring, something could be loose or a ground could be messed up causing only a small amount of power to get through

I had the same problem when i put my new pioneer deck in. I just removed the tweeters and replaced some of the wire and ran it down into some kicker 6x9"s. It actually doesnt sound bad but i wish i would have been able to find out why I couldnt use my rear 4" speakers. BTW, what kind of lift do you have and those are 35" tires right? Looks nice.

Problem solved the blue wire for the power antenna must be hooked up to activate the rear amp for rear speakers.

They are 33" tires with a 5" suspension and a three inch body

Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead but i am having this problem.

I only have rear woofers when the radio is on and not for CDs, AUX, or Ipod. If it is the amplifier, this makes sense because my HU only sends the pwr. ant. signal when the "radio" is on.

So if there is a separate rear amplifier, where is it? can it easily be bypassed?

If I bypass the rear amp will I need a passive crossover?

I don't like the fact that my HU is sending a powered signal into the factory amp!

What have other people done?

do you have aftermarket subs and amps? the stock amps are located behind the rear speakers, each speaker has its own. you will have to hook up the power antenna lead from the truck to the amp turn on wire from the head unit to get the stock amps to turn on with the HU. when I hooked up my new head unit i still used the factory amps for the rear speakers and haven't had any problems, and my HU puts out 50Wx4

I figured out the problem. My new HU had a pwr antenna wire and an amp turn on wire. The power antenna wire only sends voltage when the radio function is on! So... I just swaped the wires and the back woofers now work.

I still dont like the idea of my HU amp going into the stock amp into the speakers.

Im guessing there is an active crossover in the stock amps? I would like to bypass them but then would I need passive crossovers?

I guess this gives me a good excuse to buy a pair of component speakers and crossovers.
