1997 4Runner headline/door ajar warning not working

Hi,

I tried searching for this problem, but I was unable to find any threads about it. Please forgive me if I missed it.

I have a 97 4runner and the ding that the car makes when you leave the headlights on stopped working a while ago. I've run my battery down several times because I didn't notice they were still on. How do I fix this?

Have you first checked that the (ground) switch at the door IS working properly? That would be a simple fix ... Does your dome light come on when opening driver's door? Do you have the key-in-ignition beep when the door is open?

The light does come on, but I don't get the ding for the door being open.

I've notice if. I leave my light on door, and when I open my door it doesn't work. Only when trunk opens.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't think it's a fuse...

So it sounds to me like the dinger/buzzer is dead. It does not sound to remind you the lights have been left on and it does not come on to announce the key is in the ignition and the door open.

So either the wire to that buzzer is unhooked or the buzzer itself is dead.

Not sure where it is exactly... I am presuming near the drivers side fuse panel.
