1997 4runner turns over but wont start when hot.

1997 4runner turns over but wont start when hot. Starts no problem when its cold but if ya drive it for a while then shut it off it wont start. I have pulled a plug wire and its getting spark. You can go to the tail pipe when its cranking and it is getting gas. It seems like its flooding out. If you leave it.... depending on the temp and let it cool down. It fires right up. It keeps gooing to a high idle while driving from the air bypass on the throttle body thats got the coolent running threw it. Not sure if its gettig stuck open or staying open. Not sure if that valve is bad? Maybe air in there and it needs to be purged? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Total guesses over the internet but the few times I've seen this come up in forums it's been either fuel pump, cam or crank sensors.

Not much help but trying to point you in few directions so you can narrow your searches.

I'm leaning towards it being a crank sensor, but it is very odd that it runs fine till you shut it off and try starting it again. Is it throwing any codes?

In my experience, hard cold start = fuel pump ; hard warm/hot start = regulator. Just my $.02
