1st Gen Supercharger nose cone Rebuild and Mod

now I can change the oil anytime I want using a syringe and small tube to suck out the old oil before putting new oil in. A big thanks to my friend Marc for all his work on this project.

Do you put loc tite or anything in the plug?
How is it 2 years later?
Would you have done anything different?

2 years later working great. Wouldn't change a thing. Just some teflon tape on the plug :fro:

I used viton O-rings from McMaster Carr:

I forget what size I used, but if you measure the old ones they'll match up to one of the ones on that page.

May I ask all of you guys' opinions...

I've got a small leak of oil seeping out from behind the pulley where it meets the nose cone. It's a small leak but big enough to notice. Would you think this is due to a failed seal or do you think the supercharger is literally bending apart from the stress of everything?


I would hate to spend the time and money to replace the seal and it still leak :crybaby:

my guess is that your seal has gotten hard over time. these superchargers create A LOT of heat and that is why you should replace it with a good vitron seal that will hold up to the heat better. Unless your shaft was impacted I don't see how it could be bent. Just my .02

the good news is that it is a cheap fix but does take a little time

I don't have a pic but the seal goes in the nose cone behind where the pulley goes on. Vitron is a type of seal that will hold up to heat better. Try to set the seal depth just a little different from where it was before so it rides on a different part of the shaft than before.
