1st Post.... I Introduce you Selene

Well, hello everybody...

I wanted to say hi to everyone as someone new to the site, to Toyota's, to Japanese cars and to SUV's.

I just bought a brand new Urban Runner 4WD. it was about time we sold my wife's jetta and moved up to an SUV. We are getting a dog by fall, and we go more and more outdoors lately. So the 4Runner is a perfect fit for me and my wife...

This is my first Japanese car. I have never owned anything, but German, but I know this will stay as the right vehicle for us for many years to come. This will be my wife's daily, and I drive GTI.

The pics you see is from the first day I got the car. I already tinted the fronts 35% and rest of car full Ceramic Tint. I also got 3M clear Bra installed on teh bumper, grill, extended hood, rear view mirrors and door handles. It is well worth the investment. This saturday, I am also getting the factory skid plate installed (all paid for as a part of negotiations). Next will be the HID's.

So why did I name her Selene? Because I have a crush on Kate Beckinsale and Selene is her character's name in the awesome movies Underworld movies as a dark vampire slayer. I thought the darkness of the movie suits the 4-runner very well, especially with the tint which I will post pics of after this weekend

I love this car, the Dark rims, Alcantara seats and TomTom nav...

Your garage is similar to mine. I still have a VR6 Jetta (named Bink-after the sound it makes when you lock the doors remotely) in Reflex Silver with the same style wheels as your former one... Goes like heck and gets 33MPG! (when I'm not beating on it)

Josh I can't believe you would give someone correct information and easily understandable info at that.....I am seriously disappointed in you, I mean you know that your info is supposed to always be incorrect! Audiqtr - Sorry to hijack your thread here but I had to at least make somewhat of a deal out of Josh's helpfulness as another member (then not a member) has made an a - s - s out of himself about other posts! From one Newbie to another Josh is a good guy and always seems willing to be helpful, welcome to the forum and enjoy!

Nice Urban Runner also, are those Revo's (Bridgestone Dueler AT Tires) on there? I thought I could make out the Dueler on them.....if so are they stock or did you have the dealer upgrade them?

BTW, Kate Beckinsale is in a film with Christian Bale from about 5 years back that was a good flick, a drama but none the less she is a fine lady. It's called Laurel Canyon if you haven't seen it, it's worth the watch. Frances McDormand stars also.

Thanks, haha. It's only been a handful of times, but there are a few guys on here who jump at the first chance they can get to prove their "right side of the fence" lifestyle to everyone around them. All in all, everyone here are good people.

To be back on topic, your truck look great. Do you have any plans for it besides cosmetic? Maybe a lift? What HID kit are you planning on putting in? 4300k, 5000k, etc?

That brings back memories when I used to live there 2 years ago. I got my t4r from stevens creek but i brught my car to capitol for the the 1st maintenance.

Yeah, when I bought the VR6, I loved it so much, I bought myself a reflex silver GTI.

PS.. The T4R UR gets better gas mileage than the Jetta after 700 miles with my wife's foot....

I beleive they are stock on the Urban Runners and they are the Revo's. I shall find Laurel Canyon at once....lol

We already took the car to hiking up by Muir Woods on a rainy, windy day it's first weekend. No real off roading yet until it is properly broken in.

It's easy to install an HID kit, no point in paying to have one installed. I did mine in about 20 minutes. Xenon Depot is probably the best bang for your buck, the Phillips ones are a bit pricey. There's a link in my signature that has pictures of my HID kit compared to regular halogen bulbs.

Here's a bit of a guideline as for what kelvin rating you want to get:

4300k: Pure white, offers the best visibility increase.

5000k: Slightly blue, less visibility, and some people find it hard to see on longer trips. (ie: headaches caused from the blue, etc) Also, bad visibility in wet driving conditions.

6500k: This is where the light starts to get very blue, and is more for show than visibility.

Anything above that will start to apper purple/violet.
