When you accidentally rolled down the back window, was it because you pushed that button by accident or did it get pushed on its own in your pocket? Last question, this key doesn't have a Toyota logo on back does it?

To be honest, I’m not sure. But I have caught myself hitting the button by accident. You have to hold it down though. And yes, Toyota logo is on the back.
 
Sigh... So I have a problem. Turns out the only key I have for my 05 4runner is a gray valet key.

I received my new all in one switchblade style key. I got it cut just fine. I programed the buttons to work just fine. But since I have a valet key, I cannot program the new key to start the vehicle. I called dealer to ask how much it costs to make a new master key and they are around $200. Any suggestions???

If anyone has one of these fabulous flip keys for your 4th gen and you break it (or jump in the pool with it in your pocket), don't throw it away!!! I ordered a new one, and was able to easily switch out the blade and chip, so I didn't have to have the new one cut or programmed!!!

Got my VW style TODAY! Went over to see my buddy, who works for Toyota, so he could program it.

He was like, "There's no way in hell that'll work on your 4Runner." I showed him this thread and the Ebay link. He absolutely couldn't believe it worked! He was flabbergasted when he got it programmed.

I even had to send the Ebay link to the General Manger, whom I used to work with at Mitsubishi years ago. He has a 03 V8 4Runner and his Fob is broken.

Oh nice, was it pretty easy to swap it?
 
i called the dealer here in Murfreesboro, TN and they said $60 to program a key. Not sure if that is the whole master key deal or not. Just bought a 4th gen last week and it only has the fob and looks like a aftermarket key. Am i right to assume it wouldn't be a master key? If say it happened to be another master key could i program the fob and the rfid chip on my own?

If the key will open the glove box and trunk, it is a master, but you don't need a master key for the dealer to program a new master.
 
It will open the trunk, there isn’t a lock on the glovebox( currently in search of a new to me gray one). Good news to hear. Thanks for the help.

You “should” be able able to program the remote and key yourself, however, that is assuming there are still open positions in the computer for more keys, or remotes. If not, you’ll have to clear everything and program just the existing key/remote and the new ones. I only had a single key and remote that came with mine, so I promptly bought 2 replacement keys and a spare remote. I was able to program the remote and 1 spare key, but the other would not take. I still haven’t taken the time to clear everything and start over, but from research on here that’s what needs to happen if/when I get around to buying one of these switchblade keys.
 
got the key in today, went to ACE had it cut for free.90-free programmed it in the parking lot. Piece of cake, thanks for the help.
 
So, just confirming... with these chip keys/all in one keys... is the chip key programming sequence different than programming the buttons on the remote?

Yes, programming the chip is a different procedure, and I've never done it. But, programming the remote is a piece of cake.

So, this process isn't going well for me because I'm having issues finding anyone who can cut the blank on this 2-in-1 key. I had one cut last night but the locksmith screwed it up, so I reached out to the ebay seller and luckily he will send me 2 more uncut blanks ($8). I think that may make it easier to get the blank cut almost anywhere, as the FOB kinda gets in the way of the key cutting machine. For others who may have this issue, the link below shows how to remove the blank from the FOB. Might be best to do that before taking it to a locksmith?
