2 vs 4 100w off road spot lights

I recently scored 4 100w KC 57 series(rectangle) spot lights. I'm debating if I should mount all 4 or just 2 on the stock bumper. Will I notice much of a difference between 2 to 4? Will having all 4 on at the same time really strain the stock alternator and single battery? Anyone do a HID conversion on KC 57 series lights?

4 lights will pull almost 40 amps. That's a pretty good load on the battery and alternator. They'll probably dim when you're idling. I think the stock alternator on a 97 is only 70 amps output, and the other electrics (like ignition, headlights, etc.) are going to pull at least half of that. I run 2 55W Hellas and it lights up the road pretty far off. I'd say 2 100W lamps would be plenty of light, unless you're racing in Baja or something.

I run 2 Kc round spots 100 watts fine. I wish I had more for actual back road driving but 2 work good for highway driving as my high beams. Actually a lot better.

the alternator out of the old gm cars, (i believe the deville) basically fits in the stock 4runners denso place. at idle its 90amp. full output is 150. the only thing you might have to do is get a slightly longer alt. belt. ive got 1600 watts of front facing lighting and 300 facing the rear, dual 17" electric radiator fans. obviously cant run all of that at the same time, but having dual batteries and the higher output alternator helps alot.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I think I read that the stock alternator does put out 70 amps and if the existing system pulls half of that it doesn't make sense to wire all 4 right now. Looks like I'm drilling 2 holes today.

The plan down the road is to build a plate bumper and install a winch. When that day comes I'll look into a higher output alternator.
