Wheels are all about backspacing. You can probably get the dealer to help you compute the backspace. There are two common mods that can help fit a tire: fender liner and body mount chop. Search both and you'll find lots of comments on these.
Fuel efficiency most likely. Skinny tires = less friction = less effort to roll.
After seeing those pics, I know what my first major upgrade will be!

Appreciate your comments. I am right now in the process of new tires and I too have chosen the Michelin 275/55/R20. Favored Michelin after reading countless reviews of them vs the Bridgestones Duehlers. Thanks for your insight.

The stock 20x7 rims are just 7 inches wide with 15mm offset (4.5 inch backspacing). The stock 245/60-20 tires take a 7.0 to 8.5 inch rim width. So Toyota choose the minimum rim width for that tire size!
I have read at least one tire manufacturer for 275/55-20 allows a 7.0 tim width but for sure most allow 7.5 to 9.5 inches. Most will fit on a 7.0 inch rim and there are pics posted of this.
Most of the posts are for off-road 17 inch wheels and tire combinations, but I drive on freeways and on steep gravel mountain roads (1.5 to 4 miles to and from my home depending on which way I go).
I want to get 20x8.5 rims with the stock 15mm offset with wider (same diameter) 275/55-20 tires for summer use and then switch back to the stock rims with 245/60-20 dedicated winter tires.
So, does anyone know for sure - will 20x8.5 rims with the stock 15mm offset (5.25 inch backspace) fit Ok, with 275/55-20 all season tires.
My guess is, if the 275/55-20 tires fit fine on the stock rims (just pinched a little) then I just need to be sure the brake / upper control arm has room when the base of the tire is mounted on a 8.5 inch rim. E.G. is the backspace Ok?

So there's a lot in this thread makes my head spin. I just wish toyo listed the rim size easily to see for the LE to assist in this...but I digress...
I can tell you this about that tire;
It wears great not noticeably noisy. I use it on my HD ram and tow heavy trailers, getting the full 60,000 from them with most it it towing!! I'm am pleased enough to buy my second set.
I can't tell you how they'd look on the t4r LE however..
So I installed 275 55 20 Cooper Discoverer ATP, and the front left tire rubs at about 3/4 to full lock. Am I the only one who has this issue? Could the Coopers just be a little bigger than most other tires in this size? This is aggravating, as it is my wife's vehicle, and she is not happy.
I've also noticed significant decrease in acceleration, but that's another issue.

Good to hear. My 2017 Limited has 15,500 on the clock. I need something slightly more aggressive and less of that station wagon look.
I'm not interested in reviewing all 50 pages of this thread, but what have these tires done to your MPG?

I've been running "Good*Year Eagle LS-2" 275/55 R20 since I bought this truck (21,900 miles ago) and I've 'NEVER' had the slightest tire issue since I swapped them... it performs like a very High-end truck; no comparison!

So for those of you who have taken the 275/55 off road, what did you air down too? I'm specifically looking at the Wildpeaks and believe I have found a local installer who isn't balking on putting them on. After searching here and google, I haven't found anyone discussing airing them down.
I do fairly simple and average offroad stuff, and often they are used at normal pressure as I'm not doing anything that requires lowering pressure. I'm mainly concerned with using them down at the beach this spring, which will require dropping pressure. Any issues? Concerns?

I think there are a lot of conspiracy theorists in this chain discussing the ability to run a 275 55 20 on the stocker 20x7's.
The tire manufacturer publishes the optimal wheel width size for OPTIMAL WEAR not for safety or blowouts as some are suggesting.
The big tire will fit just fine and be totally secured to the wheel even under load or pressure.
The only thing you will see is that the designated treadwear life will be affected to some small degree if you are mounting to rims larger or smaller than the recommended size. For more info on the science of why this is, https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=198

I put Michelin LTX M/S2 P275/55R20 111H on mine 1/1/16, at 46,400. Have a little over 70,000 miles on it now, so about 25,000 miles. No issues, look much better. No off-roading so can’t help there, and haven’t checked but no mpg issues.

I have a 2011 Limited with 275/55/20's all around. stock wheels and xreas suspension. no rubs at any time so far. mostly on road though. some light off road on gravel with pot holes.
