R&T specs for the Limited going back every year to 2010 list the wheels at 20x7.5

Hi Ratt1,
I snapped these today with the ole' Android phone; hope they help. Installed them 2 weeks ago, couldn't be any more satisfied with their performance!!!
These are 275/55/R20, mounted on O.E. Limited rims-definitly no problems here!!

Limiteds have 7.5 wheel
I have seen several post that the Limited is a 7 inch wheel and wanted to post the specs directly from Toyota.. The Limited does have a 7.5 inch wheel and the SRS has the 7 inch.

Have you not read the posts? Rigtec measured his LE wheel: SEVEN INCHES. Toyota spec sheet is wrong. Read your wheel stamping and door jamb plate. Don't start a rumor again. You guys can't "hope" your rims to 7 1/2 inches.
I have read every post possible for the last 2 weeks.... Never saw where the Toyota spec sheet was incorrect... Local Toyota dealer gave me 7.5 on Limited as well... Really don't care either way.. I am just wanting the right information from Toyota.. My post was with good intentions hoping to help or at least get the right answer.
The screen shot in his post shows 7.5J.. What am I missing.. Thought I have read every post and want this to go away as well..

Read the last several posts of the link. Everyone was arguing on what width was correct and Greg went and has his spare dismounted. He measured and posted pics.

The LE rim measures 7" across the bead, this is the CORRECT regulatory method of rim measurement. Further, all LE door tags show 20x7J (J is the shape of the lip)
There is a clear conflict with Toyotas marketing specs and regulatory specs, so, either Toyota is fudging the number for marketing purposes or they are not following the globally accepted standard rim measurement regulations or the rim was initially to be 7.5 and marketing never caught the change to 7".
I would like to see an actual measurement of the SR5 rim, if bead to bead it is also 7" then Toyota is using 2 different standards for the same vehicle.
There is a regulatory requirement for the technical spec of 7 as it is on the door tag but generally marketing specs have a wide interpretation of terms like "width".

So, I tried to respond with the link to the Toyota spec doc that showed 7.5 x 20 and the page was "NOT FOUND".. GONE

Probably a proofreader or editor overlooked it. It's no big deal because the doorjam + the wheel stamp has the correct rim width. Are you gonna go by a sales spec sheet or a casting stamp?

However, before some Genius starts to develop a theory (and I can feel it coming), that somehow, the spare tire that I measured for this discussion, is "Different", than the rims that Toyota casts, to be installed and driven on...I'm way ahead of you.
After my spare was dismounted and measured, I decided to measure the thickness of the rim flanges (outside of the bead surfaces), and the distance between flange to flange, with a wheel caliper; allows you to measure the outer width of the rim, without dismounting the tire.
And I'm very happy to report, that the rim that Toyota intended to be used for the spare tire, was cast "EXACTLY" the same as all of the other standard 20" rims. NOT DIFFERENT!!! :reddance:

These wheels are 20 x 8.5 and the OEM are 20 x 7, the low offset in the OEM is needed to compensate such a narrow wheel, that really needs to stick out in order to look normal in a 4Runner. Since the wheels we are selling are wider, a higher offset is required. The perfect fitment is a combination of the width and offset of the wheel. These wheels are guaranteed to perfectly fit the vehicles listed on the fitment chart or you money back.

He is correct, the outside of the replica 20x8.5 will sit about the same as the OEM 20x7, because of the offset change. Most of the gain is on the inside.
The issue is putting on a 275 or 285 tire puts nearly all the gain of width on the inside, I don't know how much room is there to accommodate this, there may be enough room. however for looks and stance I would prefer slightly more on the outside. So, it depends on the tire you want to run..
on the 20x8.5,
a 275 tire will be about 1.2" closer on the inside..
a 285 tire will be about 1.4" closer on the inside..
So, I don't know if a spacer is necessary but it would be ideal to move everything out a bit. For example when you stuff a 275 on an OEM 7" rim, you get about 0.6" added on each side.
I wonder if the vendor would sell them is sets of 5 ???
Maybe somebody can chime in on how much room is available on the inside to accommodate a wider tire.
