You can buy the TRD pro wheels off eBay for a little under $800 shipped - I think I paid $780 from a Toyota dealer in Washington state. The BFG's ran about the same.

For those of us who like the 20" OEM wheels but cant stand the fact that they're only 7" wide, I have noticed that the OEM style (knockoffs) on ebay are 8" wide and at around 750 dollars a set aint to bad.

275/55r20 on stock 2012 LTD rims
So it looks like there have been many who made the jump to the larger / better 275/55r20 on the 7" stock limited rims. My 2012 is finally getting to the point where I need to replace the stock Dueler H/T 684 II tires at 50k miles. Those tires were OK, but I really like the idea of having a larger tire.
I've been researching for about a week and was really looking at the Defender LTX M/S in 275/55r20. I went as far as to drive over to the local Discount Tire store, after talking with the guy over the phone and confirming 1.) yes they have the tire and 2.) yes it will fit on my stock 20" rims that are in fact only 7" wide. But when I got there he started entering the order into the computer system and after a few minutes basically said, "sorry, I can't actually sell you these" ....... wtf
Just wondering if anyone out there has installed Michelin's in this size (either Defenders, or Premier's) on the stock rims and have you had any problems?
If I can't find some solid info I might be forced to just go with the stock size, of which there are only about 3 options ........... none of them good.

Discount will not install out of spec sizes, if you want that size and are comfortable out of spec go elsewhere. The solid info you want is just opinions, plenty have mounted out of spec, no reported issues here but that doesn't mean something couldn't happen in the right circumstances.

Try Costco. They carry Michelin/BFG, competitive pricing, and equivalent included tire service and warranty. I picked up a set of KO2s 275/55R20 and they have been great and taken great care of them.

After perusing about 100 pages of threads I've been unable to find a single incident reported, other than a maybe a tire rack fella that ran over a bolt immediately post install, (not the tires fault) - that's good evidence that maybe 1/4" on each side of a tire is not going to make or break it.
Expect different tires of the same size rating to fit slightly differently, so if anyone has selected the Michelin Defenders in 275/55r20 on the 20 x 7J's please share.
and really anyone that's been running the larger size in the past years, would be great to hear real experiences, good / bad or indifferent.

Tire options are definitely limited for when the time comes (this fall) to replace the original Yokohama Geolandars that came on it.

I ended up going with those tires (Michelin Premier LTX) on my 2012 LTD after reading an inspiring T4R LTD review for them on TireRack. I've got about 1500 miles on them and (*so far) they are they best tires I've ever had. We call it "stealth mode" . . . at 80 mph on the interstate they are silent ... we're now hearing other vehicles around us loudly that we never noticed before (The stock Dueler's we replaced were extremely loud even with 3/32 of tread left!). Plus they handle better than the Duelers, and the truck seemed to stop quicker when that deer decided to run in front of us last week!
I was really leaning towards the larger 275/55/R20 size, but due to lack of feedback from this forum (and others) regarding compatibility with the 7" rims (or lack thereof), I went the safe route and stuck with the stock tire size - Luckily Michelin decided to make a tire in this questionable size choice by Toyota (245/60). Toyota has made some other pretty significantly questionable choices on other things as well, but anyway, bottom line - it's an excellent truck, and I can pretty much guarantee you wont find a better tire for the stock LTD rims than the Premier LTX.. (IMHO after running them 1500 miles), can't speak to the longevity of the tire, but they are rated near the top online for tread life... Time will tell.

Thanks for sharing your experiences to date with those Michelins.
The 7 inch wide rims are also of concern to me, which is why I want to stick with a tire designed specifically for that rim diameter and width.
My research shows Yokohama, Bridgestone, Cooper and Michelin as the only P245/60R20 tires that will fit those rims. I've had good experiences with Michelins before, so they are at the top of my list. The Coopers are also under consideration, but likely the Michelins will win out.

It is one thing to read the tire size comparison charts and wrap your head around what they all mean, and quite another to see the application of tires chosen in practice and actual use.

My tire shop also did these tire comparisons for me when I made some initial inquiries about new tires, seeing what would work without rubbing or modification.
For me I guess it comes down to a comfort level of wanting to put tires on the 20x7 rims that Toyota specified size-wise, and not wanting to "break the rules" by exceeding tire size recommendations. That's just me playing it safe.

I still think the 20" Limited wheels look fine and tires should be ok.
I could change my mind - there is only 700 odo miles on it. I am working on installing the Thule Canyon roof rack now. I have made modifications before it had 250 odo miles on it (Magnaflow catback). I might not be that interested in wheel and tire changes.

Fair, but not great. I put a set on my Xterra when my shop did not have the Goodyear Wranglers in stock. I wish I had waited. In the snow they were not as sure footed as the Goodyear Wranglers I replaced. The M/S2 tires were great on the street though. As a general cruiser tire they get great marks. I also had one size taller tires. I had 275's installed.

Was together with the family for Christmas and got a good look at the tires on my nephews truck. He's got a '16 GMC Sierra All Terrain, think it's basically the Z71 package. It's got factory 20" wheels probably 8" or 9" wide, the wheels are huge, really nice looking. Anyway these tires came stock on the truck, Goodyear Wrangler SR-A's in 275/55r20. They're a real nice looking tire. Center section looks to be a basic all season tread but the outside blocks are big with fairly deep grooves. Edge blocks extend on tread face and up sidewall about 1 1/2".
He said ride was pretty good with no road noise issues. Don't think he's had it off-road yet, didn't mention anything about off-road performance.
Not a big Goodyear fan but they are a really nice looking tire.
