Electric wire set going to rear hatch door is fried in hinge area. I cut wires off and pulled out the 2 plugs plugs going into the body part in roof area. I can get a new set from dealer for abt 120 $...and was thinking to cut the top (body part portion out of new wire set and splice /solder the wires together at the hinge part after needle them all back into the rubber hose protector one by one... since I have no idea how to run the new wire through the rear gate door at my 2000 4 runner....any ideas ???

Or I could just splice/solder in new wires between the plugs and the wires going into hatch....

Man, I'm having a hard time understanding the difficulty. Is the damage in the rear gate only? If so, why are you messing with the body portion?

You should be able to pull the interior trim panel, then unbolt the black metal panel to get to the entire rear gate harness. Not easy but not rocket science.
