2000 Limited Factory Radio question - strange connection

So, I took out the factory radio and amp so I could install a new double din with bluetooth.

Here is my question - on the factory radio right next to the antenna was a small plug..it had a connection that I can only describe as looking like a miniature antenna connection.

It does not go to the amp...it seems to go in the direction of the antenna...I have a power antenna is this something important?

Based on the mixed results of the thread I think I will leave the rear detached for now and see if reception is OK...
