2000 Limited Turn signal problems

All the turn signals on my son's 2000 Limited just quit working for no apparent reason. He did replace the corner bulbs with LED lights, but I wouldn't think that the switch should have triggered a problem with the turn signals. We have checked both TS fuses (10 and 7.5 amp) and they are fine. Nothing else has been done that I think would have triggered all the turn signals to just quit working.

I understand there is a TS relay somewhere and that may have gone bad and there is also some kind of harness behind the fuse block than may be an issue. Anyone else have this happen and can suggest a place to look?

Under the steering wheel, remove the panel, unbolt the fuse panel and behind that is the turn signal relay. If you replaced the incandescent bulbs with LEDs you'll need to replace that with an ep-35

Thanks! They have them in stock at my local Advance Auto. Will pick up one tomorrow.
 
Hopefully the flasher fixes it, but normally when you replace a turn signal with an LED bulb, it hyper flashes, not doesn't work at all.

BC, he only replaced the corner bulbs with LEDs and not the actual turn signal bulbs. I would have suspected the same thing you did since I had that issue on my pick-up truck, but in this case it was just the side marker bulbs that were switched out for LEDs.

I'll report back tomorrow on the results. :thumb:

Just to clarify, did you put the regular bulbs back in the corners to see if the blinkers starting working again?

Replaced with an EP-35 this morning and the turn signals still don't work. All fuses seem to be fine. Any other suggestions?
 
The good news is you'll still need the EP35 if you're doing LEDs so it wasn't money wasted.

Have you tried replacing the LEDs with the original stock lights?
 
If all of your (serviceable) stock bulbs are installed but aren't working and all of your relays and fuses are good. I'm out of ideas.

PW, Problem solved. My son had taken apart the dash to put in a radio face plate kit and in the process unplugged the turn signal circuit. I had asked him if he got everything plugged back in and he said yes, but apparently he didn't (19 year old kid :music:). Anyway, turn signals are working fine now and your suggestion was spot on as he would have needed an upgraded flasher anyway with the LED additions he has planned.

Monty, yes hazard button does work - now!

Hey Pot Hole, could you point me toward that turn signal circuit, please? We were in the dash of my son's '98 last night, and now he has no signals (fuse checks good). What did that plug-in look like and where was it?

Well, I went out and opened mine (my son's) back up, thinking the "turn signal circuit" might have been the plug for the hazards. That's what it was. It either wasn't plugged back in, or not clicked in and wiggled loose. Regardless, I plugged it back in and we're road-ready again!
