2002 4runner starting issue won't stay cranked

Ive had my 4runner for about 10 years now with no major issues (knock, knock) but recently i had a code for MAF sensor and replaced it. Now it seems like it has VERY LOW power on startup. When i turn key it will start but not stay cranked without pushing the gas pedal and then it will stay cranked, but will just crank and die without pushing gas pedal. Also Im getting a loud belt squeal when i press the gas pedal but after all this is stays cranked and runs as usual. I have cleaned throttle body, bypassed the new MAF sensor by unplugging it and still the same problem. All the indicators Im getting point to bad battery, but I have had it tested by numerous places and all say battery/ alternator are good. Could it possibly still be a bad battery or should I look deeper. Also after about two/three attempts to start without pressing gas pedal....I get nothing... not even a clunk from starter (almost like a flooded engine) but EFI. Any help would be appreciated I can start by replacing battery but don't want to waste $$.

I also forgot to mention after cleaning throttle body i drove it about 30 miles and got a p0420 (possible plugged cat) cleared it out and haven't gotten another code. could a plugged cat cause hard starting? I ve only had that issue once before on a toyota and that was obvious because the car wouldn't hard run over 5 mph

I had what sounds like the same problem. I was passing someone and punched the gas and the 2000 4runner died. Wouldn't respond to the gas pedal like I flooded it out. Coasted to a stop and tried to start it. Would start but wouldn't stay running at all. Maybe for a second. I thought the fuel pump went out. Had to get it towed home. The next day I checked fuel pressure - OK. Still wouldn't stay running. Checked regulator- OK. On a whim, I started it an gave it gas and it sound like it wanted to run. Did this about three times. Then it finally stayed running. Then it finally started normally after that. Never figured out what happened. Hasn't happed since (about 3 months ago) I had just finished the valve cover gaskets, at which time I cleaned the throttle body thoroughly. I removed the IAC. SO I wouldn't get gunk in it. Sprayed some carb cleaner through the IAC but it looked pretty clean. Seems like cleaning the throttle body is the common denominator. I may have just cleaned my MAF too but I'm not sure. My engine cranked fine. No battery issues. I sure would like to know what caused it.

its possible you got a bad maf or restricted air intake passage. check your intake tube make sure you remove any towel or rugs when you cleaned the t/b.
check your t/b plate make sure its adjusted properly .
charge your battery ,cranking your truck 20 time will drain your battery
and last one check your spark plugs cracking it 20 time will drown your spark plugs with fuel.

Sounds to me like an IAC or TPS issue. What was your original code for the maf?
