2002 TR4 suspension questions

I have lurked around for quite sometime and have been so overwhelmed with info so I thought I would just ask anyways.
STOCK 2002 TR4 stock suspension with 221K. Thats right time to replace the shocks and struts. So heres what Im thinking. putting on Monroe Quick Sturts and rear shocks. With that said the obvious would be that the nose would be higher. So I was thinking of getting OME 906 springs for the rear to level it out.
Im thinking i would get a little lift from stock without having to do any diff drops ect. My runner is a DD on the street with occasional lite off rd trails to get me in the mtns to the trout streams. can anyone here chime in about this setup?

What makes you think putting in the Quick Struts will make your truck nose high? Being an OEM replacement, I would assume they would be close to stock height. In any case, OME 906's will give you a rake. I had OME 881's front which is a 2" lift and mine is level. Have you read the 3rd Gen Lift FAQ? Also, my feeling is the 906's will be too firm relative to the front IMO.

Thanks for the feedback flyinbrick. I checked the link out and now I'm thinking that maybe i should just go with the 99talls in the rear. Is there anyone that runs the Monroes upfront and rear with the 99s? Whats the ride like?
Im also thinking of going with Billie HD's instead of the Ms its just that i have read that the Billies are a little stiff.

Help me out here guys

So can anyone chime in? Monroe oe spectrum quick struts up front and 99talls in the rear with Monroe's? I know there are folks that hate the Ms I had them on a 97 4r and I liked them. I'm just trying to level out the 2002 or at least have a little rake. I'm on a petty tight budget and need to be smart about it. Any one run this setup or something close?

I understand there are some M haters. Im getting a good deal on them and as stated the 97 that i had them put on rode pretty well. Im trying to figure out if putting the 99s on the rear if that will level out the runner.

This is going to be the scenario that plays out in your head. You'll get the Monroes with 906's and wish you would have gotten something else. Do some reading in the lift faqs that was posted above. Spend the extra month and buy and good lift when the start. Buying a good lift doesn't mean that you need to spend $1600 on a 3" lift. You can pick up used parts on here all day and build yourself a very nice 2"-3" lift for under $800. This is just my advise, but I'm sure others would agree.

Also - im not setting this up to go wheeling. Mostly street and everynow and then mtn roads or fire roads.

Im not really looking for a LIFT but if i gain 1" or 1.5" im good with that too. i just want to make sure that the back end doesnt have the SAG look.

That's fine! I have a 3" on mine and only wheel 2-3 times a year now. I had my fun doing that when I was a few years younger and had a very capable jeep. My wife and I now just stick to back roads and forest roads. Just because you have a 3" lift doesn't mean you need to go wheeling.

Read the Lift FAQs and I'm sure of your questions will be answered. The OME 906's will give you 2" in the rear prior to them settling some. After they settle you're looking around 1-1/2" in the rear. Get some good OEM front struts and springs with a top plate spacer as well. This will give you a decent lift without breaking the back. I'm not fond of spacer lifts, body lifts, and shims. You'll notice the difference between a good lift, and a cheap one.

MSTUDT - so what would you suggest? I really need to stay under $800 which would include install. I have a buddy that owns a shop and hes going to do me right on the labor.
Remember this is a 02 LTD pkg.

What are your long term plans? Do you plan on adding a rear bumper, tire carrier, sleeping platform, and so on?

You can go with a complete OME kit ranging from 1.5" to 3" depending on what you want to do. Get OME 880's in the front for around 1.5" and 906's in the rear for about 2". Complete lift can be found here. You can most likely piece this together for less, but it's not really a bad price.

No nothing like that. i may use a trailer hitch carrier on the back side but it wouldnt be loaded down with much more than a big cooler.

would i need to do a diff drop or any other mods with this lift? (or any lift with 1.5/2?)
Is there another "kit" that will give the same 1.5/2 thats a little cheaper?

I wouldn't do a diff drop on that lift. That's about it that I know of, or that I would recommend. You can find lifts cheap, but they're cheap. You can get a 3" Rough Country lift for about $350, but you pay for what you get.

thanks for the suggestions MSTUDT. Ill have to lurk around a little more before i pull a trigger on the OME. If anyone else has any suggestions, shoot. But to have that one would be pretty sweet. BTW i ckd your Build thread and your B&B BLOG. Im just south of the GSM about 1.5hrs and do alot trout fishing and hiking up there. Nice rig BTW.

So yeah - I just hit the button on this option. Thanks again MStudt

You can always do a Daystar leveling lift kit. You gain about 2.5"-3" from the lift. It's a spacer kit and will be in your ballpark. You can always take them off and they're technically a suspension lift, so you won't have body gap, and its somewhat cheap.

It'll also suit your needs, as you don't require much in terms of shocks, but I'd save the cash on the shocks unless they're bad.

Love it

Update: I took the advise of MStudt and ordered the OME 880/906 complete setup. I also had TOYTECH assemble the struts and to my surprise everything was delivered in 4 days. Anyways here are the before and after pix.
BEFORE - look at that sag...

AFTER - up and level

Once the work was done I couldn't wait to drive it. I have to say I love it. I've put about 300miles on it so far and honestly I hope all the settling is over. I like the way it sits and rides as is.
Next on the list (hopefully this weekend) LEDS in the dash.
