Thanks for all the time you guys put into helping me with this guys! In my honest opinion, I feel like my money and time would be better invested in righting the problems in the T4R and all than hassling someone about their lack of maintenance and how I could sue them for not buying it. The way I see it, I could drop several hundred dollars in getting my engine taken apart and cleaned and put back together and still get my money back out of the deal because I only paid $11,500 for it which I thought was a good deal and I think I could get $12,500 for it and the person who buys it would have a clean, ready to rock T4R who he bought from me.
2003 4Runner V6 Check oil light problem! Need some help!

I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as some of the other posters, but if it were me, I'd feel pretty darn good about having a nice clean pan and oil pickup now. Again, if it were me, I'd throw that oil pan back on, fill er up with the good high mileage, and change at 500 miles again. Then another 1000, then back to regular changes while watching the oil color/level.
But... I said to do that earlier and would have missed all the gunk you found in the pan... But seriously, I am thinking it would be A LOT of money to pick the engine apart to properly clean as mentioned. Almost like you might as well do a full rebuild at that point - ya know?

Due to the time and expense you will have in your efforts to make this a safe vehicle, please at lease let the previous owner see the find while it's in progress and know your probable labor and materials cost. Hopefully the PO will do the right thing and take care of that. The Attorney General showed me by law an As Is Sale in our state c/n be an act of dumping (as mentioned). BUT! If dishonesty was intended that could be another pain.
I have had 3 related situations and POs all stepped up and took care of all expenses (my time, labor and materials). Some things you will not find initially on used purchases. I usually expect to find any real problems during the Dealers 3 mo/3000 mi warr. I have found a rear eng main seal bad, a broken piston skirt and a intermitting short that d/n show initially (but a rotted spring moving around proved it was old/abnormal). Cheap me! I Will Not Spend Real Money W/O some type of written statement notarized from a Dealer or Individual backing the sale. With Luck, only 3 sales had problems and were covered and 3-4 of my best 50,000 mi purchases went another 100,000 mi w/o a problem.
