2003 Xreas help?

I have owned my 03 SE for about 5 months now. Before buying the SE I drove several SR5 models and I liked the handling. I was expecting that level, if not better, handling on my 03 SE. I bought in from Ebay and didnt have a chance to drive it before I owned it. I feel like my SE leans way too much in corners, especially at slow speeds. I KNOW its not a sportscar, but based on my previous test drives of the SR5's I was expecting better. My question is...............

What can go wrong with the Xreas? The runnner only has 55K on it. I am taking it to the dealer for its first oil change on Monday, should I have them check it out? If so, what will they be looking for?

I am tempted to remove the Xreas and install some normal shocks.

Help?

There could possibly be a fluid leak in one or both of the closed circuits somewhere or loss of pressure from the nitrogen charge in the central control module(s). Check all the lines' connections from the shocks for any fluid and especially the center modulator on both sides of the main frame. Do you know if the previous owner disconnected it for any reason and put it back? They may not have reconnected it properly (but that's only a guess). I'm no X-REAS expert, but this pdf has been downloaded numerous times by members here. It should give you some valuable info about the system for any troubleshooting. You could just remove the system entirely. With it gone you are more open to lift options too. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I will review the PDF and take a look at the runner this weekend before I drop it off at the dealer. Something just doesnt seem right.

Since you will be at the dealer anyway, might be a good idea to test drive a new Sport Edition just to compare apples to apples. See how much difference in roll with a brand spanking new XREAS system to your '03. You can then tell the stealer how it should handle before they play the "Duh, ain't nothing wrong" card.

Wow, for as much as all you you SE owners talk up the Xreas I thought I would have gotten some better feedback.

I think you got your answer. If dingo didn't beat me to it, I would have told you to look for a leak in the XREAS system. It's a pretty simple system, and it absolutely relies on a fully pressurized system.

BTW, I own a Sport Edition, so yes, I have XREAS, and I've driven an SR5 on several occasions. There is no comparison between the two in terms of handling (body lean in turns) with a properly functioning XREAS system.

I was thinking it could be the tires. It had brand new "Duncraps" on it when I picked it up. I am hoping I dont have to replace the tires to get the ride I am looking for. I guess I was looking for some feedback on what can go wrong with the Xreas. I am now suspicious of some type of leak, or loss of pressure in the system.
