As mentioned in my other thread I need to find a replacement for my 2004 Limited

I can't get a straight answer for the following:
Can you get Nav and the center console CD changer in the 05? Had a dealer tell me no. I really liked this option and the controls on the wheel in the 04....

The changer is listed as an option when you build a Limited with Nav on Toyota.com. Either the dealer doesn't really know or they don't want to do the installation. My dealer was scratching his head when I wanted the changer in my 03.

Allow me to give you a response.

From experience, you can have navigation installed (oemvalue.com - and in your case, you would purchase the OEM Toyota Solara unit), it has one slot for the Nav DVD and one slot for a single CD. I have a diagram that shows a Toyota 6 disc CD changer which is plug and play with the Nav unit, which is installed in the center arm rest section. It cuts off half of the bay, but that is where the diagram shows it being installed.

Now, your problem is that you most likely have the JBL 6 disc HU installed. You will need to swap out the large plastic center trim and the computer (mpg, outside temp, HVAC readout display unit), as it is housed in a plastic trim that is not compatible with the Nav unit. Many members have fabricated a surround, however, its not factory and I did not want the look. I did a swap with a member on this board - so by coincidence of close proximity and his need for a 6 disc JBL HU - our swap was done successfully.

Next step you would need to perform is getting the Voice Navigation feature to work. Technically, you would need to purchase part number 86150-0W050 ($312.33 shipped from Carson Toyota in LA) as you have the 86150-0W040. Along with running a shielded cable from pins 11, 12, 13 from the 20 pin SMALL plug in the back of the Nav unit to pins 22, 23 at the AMP (which will be the new 86150-0W050 Sub Woofer, Black Box Enclosure, AMP combo unit) to get a FACTORY Voice Navigation - otherwise, many members have added a small amp to an independent speaker which they have mounted in various locations. I personally do not want to do this - but many others have.

Not that I'm aware, or put it this way. My Nav unit will not play an MP3 cd.

Is there a changer made that will integrate with the steering wheel controls? Should I post this in the audio section?

It's probably in use by the RSA (but his 03's should have been used by the RSA as well). Maybe a Y-adapter will allow both to work? I know some people in the Sienna forum have had some success using auxiliary inputs and Y-adapters.

According to the Toyota website and Toyota Customer Care, whom I just called, the 6-Disk CD Changer is an option with the NAV. :

I've seen several here in the Tustin/Irvine area with both these options and in fact, the 05 Limited 4x4 V8 4Runner I put a Preference Order in for a month ago is configured this way.

That completely sucks if the 2005 Nav system doesn't have a CD Changer port. I wanted to hook up an IPOD adapter using that port once somebody finally offered one that displayed text on the screen. I can't imagine why Toyota would offer the port on 03 and 04 Nav models and then get rid of it as part of a "Nav upgrade" for the 05 model year. Please, somebody who has an 05 Nav prove this wrong!

I have an appt with a local Dealer's fleet manager - I will get an answer.

According to all the online config tools it can still be done. Have not received any quotes with it however and I have a few guys saying it can't be done (reasonably).

I like aftermarket stuff, mod'ing my vehicle etc.... but some times it is nice to have a 'turn-key' option.

Once you go down the path of aftermarket upgrades it never stops

YES, you CAN get the NAV with the 6-Disk CD Changer (OEM).

I just called Toyota of Irvine and they have a Grey one sitting on their lot RIGHT NOW. Give em a call.

I don't know if it's a 4x4 or if it has a V6 or a V8.

And since I've seen at least 3 configured this way (2 in Tustin & 1 in Irvine) myself that should answer your question.

And I've also got a Preference Order in for one with BOTH these options myself.

The 2005 navigation system only has 8 speakers instead of ten. That is a change from 2004 to 2005. Carsdirect is still listing the nav as having 10 speakers. Toyota replaced the two speakers in the cargo area with the mirrors.

Yup,

That is exactly right.

Different regions have different configurations. Not all options are available in all regions.

In the Arizona and surrounding regions, for example, the 6-Disk CD Changer is not offered with the NAV. I talked to a salesperson in Arizona about this.

As I said, here in Southern California, it's pretty easy to find a NAV + CD Changer combo.

But the actual Nav HU would be the same accross the entire country, I'd assume. So even if some areas don't offer the CD Changer with the NAV unit that doesn't mean the NAV is incapable of having a changer hooked up to it, right? That makes me wonder why all regions don't offer this... seems like an easy way for the dealer to make a few more bucks.

OK, I ripped apart my dash this weekend on my 3 week old 4Runner and pulled out my '05 Nav unit. I tried searching old posts and can't find a complete picture labeling all of the various connections on the back. Can anybody who has attached a cd changer or IPOD verify that there is a connection on this for a changer? I'm thinking that the small unused white connector near the bottom and a little to to the left of the center is for the changer but I can't find a past post to verify this.

If I remember correctly, that is the location where I connected the y-adapter for NEO Ipod control. The IPOD adapter emulated the CD changer.
