2006 4Runner changes

Seems like they still have some work to do on the web site.
Most of the pics are still of the '05.
Definitely a step in the right direction.

The interior pictures and 3D demos are still of the 2005 model but the options, features, and exterior pictures are for the 2006 model.

Well at least the pdf ebrochure is working. It pretty much spells out everything. I also see that there is a front skid plate accessory.

I was reading the PDF brochure and in the pricing section it shows a picture of the Sport Edition (model 8666) in the Nautical Blue. But, the color is not available in Sport. Either a typo.....or maybe it will be offered later in the year.

I was looking through the options for the 2006 4Runner again and just realized that the DVD navigation system is an option for all models now. I wonder how difficult it will be to find an SR5 or Sport equipped with this.

Disappointed

Well I just wish I had insisted on a freeway test drive, the wind noise drives me crazy. It is much worse than my 98 Explorer was. If the 06 is quieter my salesman will be making me a great deal on my 05 and I'm buying an 06. Maybe we So. Cal folk should join together, if we go enmasse how could they refuse but to give us a good deal.

Just a note - when I was looking at trading in my old truck for the 4Runner the dealer was only offering 3k, I sold it to CarMax for 4,200. So if your looking to trade in check out CarMax. (Irvine)

You'll probably see few to none. 2003 SR5's and Sport Editions had the navigation system as an option as well, but I've never seen one.

I don't find wind noise to be a problem.

Where do you hear it? You may also want to make sure your rack crossrails on in the proper position to reduce wind noise. There are marking on the driver side rail.

Anyone else notice that the approach angle has gone down from 32 for the 03-04's to 31 for the 05's and now is listed as 30 for the 06's?

2006 Satellite Radio Availability

Has anyone heard anything about the availability of satellite radio on the 2006 4Runner?

The initial list of changes shows it as an option but Toyota's ebrochure doesn't mention it.

I was just wondering if Toyota really did anything to the 2006 engines. On the toyota.com website the specs for the 2006 4.0L V6 are

4.0-liter DOHC 24-valve EFI VVT-i V6
236 hp @ 5200 rpm/266 lb.-ft. @ 4000 rpm

I thought the 03-05 V6's have 245 horsepower and 282lb ft. or torque.

From what I have heard, there are different SAE ratings for 2006. The engines are exactly the same, but rated differently.

I stopped by my local dealership tonight to take a look at some of the'06 4Runners they had on the lot. They had about 5 SR5's and 2 Limited which looked very nice, especially with the new wheels.

Another thing my g/f actually noticed, is that on the SR5 models, along with the chrome grill, you also get chrome door handles standard, and they actually looked really good.

Chrome door handles  Are they completely chrome or just covers? Could you make and post some images?
