2006 HP Torque ratings dropped for Toyota vehicles

2004 (and previous) V8 = 9.6:1

2005 V8 = 10:1

All 4rth gen V6's = 10:1

I'm extremely confident that 9.6:1 and 10:1 are the numbers for the 04 and 05 V8's, respectively. I have read many official documents on the matter.

True, adding VVT-i alone shouldn't change CR.....tho there are many other factors that affect static compression ratio....if the 05's have a thinner headgasket, higher comp. pistons, shaved head, different rods, etc, or any combination thereof, the CR would be changed.

I believe for 2005 the piston shape was revised.....

I have a question...

From the above spec sheets, it shows the V8 now produces 260hp instead of last year's rating of 270hp...at least for the 4runner.

So, did the hp number go down because of the new SAE testing procedure or did it go down because it is now rated with regular (87 octane) gas? Or maybe both.

Reason I ask this...from the spec sheet, it states '87 octane or higher'...

I think the 270hp rating (from last year) was with higher octane, wasn't it? Doesn't it state in the owner's manual that you can use 87 but you'll bet better performance from premium...

anywho...maybe just thinking too hard...
