2006 Scion iPod HU Cable

Pics of installed Scion 1808 in 03 Tacoma
My Scion 1808 with ipod and Aux cables is in my 03 Tacoma. It was a pain in the butt, but it was worth it.
For this generation of Tacomas, you have to do some trimming of the radio and the bezel and that's kind of scary if you are anal about your truck. I must have done 15 "trial" fits before I was satisfied.
I will post up pics if anyone is interested. PM me, in case I don't check the forum.

I wish I had taken pics while I did the install, but I was just so concerned on getting it done that I kept working. For my Tacoma, an 03 Double cab, I had to do some major trimming on both the radio and the bezel.
The radio required that I pretty much trim the sides down to the main part of the casing and then start shaving that down since the face of the radio sticks out further than the stock radio.
Oh, the mounting bolts for the bracket are the same. I could have tried to mess with the brackets, but I thought this would be easier, and its been done before.

I ran the aux cable up through the center console and into the square pop out that is in between the cupholders. I never use it and it allowed me to pop it out and work on it away from the console.

In doing the install, I had to take out my center console completely. Its not hard, just a few bolts, and it allowed me to clean it up a bit. The reason I took out the console is so I could hide the ipod docking plug in the lower console, under the armrest console. Its out of sight and hopefully, thieves won't get to it or the will be so happy with the CD's they score they will move on.

Here's my interior. You can't see anything, but I just wanted to show it off. The seats are power leather heated seats from a Pontiac G6. They are so comfy and they had great reviews from different car magazines for how they felt.

I am really happy with the way this turned out. The hardest part is trimming the bezel and radio to make it look clean. I used a dremel and sandpaper and then permanent marker to "paint" the edges so they were black and not a dull gray. I could clean it up more, but I didn't want to chance it. Maybe if I get a spare bezel, I will get creative.
The stereo sounds great. I have yet to program it with a greeting, but I will tonight or tomorrow. It blows away the stock radio and the different settings really make a difference.

Excellent install!! I just got a T1808 for my '06 4Runner. Will install this weekend with an SC12235 cable purchased off ebay. Plan to install iPod in spare storage box inside the glove box.

I just read through this whole thread... and if I had done this an hour ago I could have saved 30 bucks and just gotten t1807 instead of a t1806.
With that being said...I'm lost. I know the 2 cables 2061 and 2062 or whatever they are... but this 3rd cable... is it still not available? I tried looking on ebay for the sc123345 cable but NOTHING. This sucks...any help appreciated.

Its very confusing. If you have an ipod ready radio (it will have an ipod button) you will need to get the cable from a wrecked scion or from somebody on ebay. For my install, I wanted the aux cable as well as the ipod cables so I could play my DVD player in the car. Just call around to some junkyards and find a scion (easier said than done) and then spend some time out there cutting out the cables that you need. Actually, just buy all the cable and sell what you don't use. That would be easier.

Alright...so this is what I came back with from the junkyard... PLEASE don't tell me thats what I don't need? I pulled it out of the aux port on the radio, but the guy just cut it right there.
Seems I ****ed up. Didn't get the WHOLE harness. What do you think my chances are of going back tomorrow and fishing out the rest of the harness and soldering them back together? Safety concern?

Here's a few hints from what I remember. The scion tc that my cable came from did not have an ipod deck. It was only the aux deck. When I first went there, I got so happy that I left there with only the Aux cable going from the back of the HU to the aux plug. I went back and then I found the ipod plug bundled with the factory wiring harness, except that since that head unit was not ipod capable, the connector was taped up and not being used so if this is the case with the scion that you found, don't give up until you got the cable. Like I said in my earlier post, some wires ran back to the steering column, and I am sure that these are for steering wheel controls. If your truck has steering wheel controls, you can probably hook these up. I just cut those and then got the rest of the harness that went under the center console.

I talked to the person and they said that it connects directly into the head unit. And that, that is all I need to connect my Ipod.
But it looks like the connecter has 17 holes instead of 16. It could just be the fuzziness of the picture though.

I don't know. I would contact Bob at rctech. There is a link to his email in the last or 2nd to last link I put in my earlier post. He is the guy that made these harnesses for sale on ebay, and they work. They are all in one, plug-n-play. The only reason i didn't buy one from him is that I wanted an Aux option too.

You need the SC12235 cable (make sure you have that # correct - your post above lists "sc123345 " which is incorrect).
It goes right into the back of the HU, and plugs right into your iPod. If you didn't get that figured out when reading this entire thread, you failed the test! :headslap:

I don't see any of those cables currently listed on ebay though, so you'll have to watch for one to pop up.
Also, I'm pretty sure the one you listed in your last reply is NOT the right cable.

OK, so here are a couple of links to past ebay auctions. The first one HERE is the SC12235 iPod cable you're looking for.
The next one HERE is a similar cable, but for the Aux input instead, #SC12237. For this, you could also make your own Aux input cable as I show in the first part of my T1807 install thread, which is the only stickied thread in this section.
Note the seller is the same for both cables (billc41 on ebay); I believe he might be the same guy that austintaco is talking about, but I'm not sure.

Alright...last question! Austin, I'm going back tomorrow morning at 8am to get this done. I was blessed enough to find another unit that hasn't been damaged as the shop that cut me the piece I hav enow wants a ridiculous amount of money for the other half. But, what confused me was your earlier post on the previous page. The wire started looking like it went behind the steering column. When I go tomorrow, I DON'T need to cut the wires though right? I just keep digging at it until it goes under the center console like where the shifter is...right? and hopefull i'll be able to get the other cable attached to it too that connects to the third ipod cable.

Eh. I slept in. Yeah, CO I did, and THANK YOU! I did email the guy, but still no response. Ideally that would be the way to go because I wouldn't have to buy that additional wire for 70 bucks, but I emailed him both on ebay, and at his website 2 days ago and still no response

.Thanks simple! I picked some up today. I also picked up the SC12237 to enable AUX input but Bill said that we actually need SC12236 if we want to preserve steering wheel controls w/ the AUX input cable.
